TL;DR: A cable and pulley system for a multi-station exercise machine involving a tensioned cable led over a series of pulleys, at least one of which is a cradled pulley normally nested in a cradle and radially held in the cradle by the force of the tension on the tensioned cables, was described in this article.
Abstract: A cable and pulley system for a multi-station exercise machine involving a tensioned cable led over a series of pulleys, at least one of which is a cradled pulley normally nested in a cradle and radially held in the cradle by the force of the tension on the tensioned cable and radially movable out of the cradle by a greater force applied to the cradled pulley by a second pull cable mechanically connected to the cradled pulley and functioning to move the cradled pulley radially out of its cradle when sufficient tensional force is applied to the second cable to overcome the tension applied to the cradled pulley by the tensioned cable. Additional exercise stations can be added to operate with additional cables and cradled pulleys without changing the manner of operation of other cables and exercise stations.

TL;DR: In this paper, a bending manipulation device for endoscope is described, where a pair of control wires are taken up by a pulley provided in and given a rotary motion by the main control portion of the endoscope.
Abstract: A bending manipulation device for endoscope wherein a pair of control wires are taken up by a pulley provided in and given a rotary motion by the main control portion of the endoscope, and one of control wires extended out from the pulley corresponding to the turning operation thereof is taken up by the pulley while the other is paid out from the pulley, thereby enabling the bending manipulation to be carried out. The groove of the above pulley is formed in the shape of a spiral continuously extending in the peripheral direction of this pulley and is used in common by the above pair of control wires. One part from the one end of the groove and the other part from the other end of the groove are arranged side by side and in parallel with each other. Each of control wires is alternately taken up on the groove of the pulley corresponding to the turning direction of the pulley.

TL;DR: A manipulation mechanism for an angle section of an endoscope includes at least one pulley provided within a main operation unit, with the base ends of a pair of operating wires wound thereupon, a pulley rotating shaft extended externally from a casing of the main operating unit to rotate the pulley, an angle operating apparatus provided outside of the primary operation unit and coupled to the rotating shaft as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A manipulation mechanism for an angle section of an endoscope includes at least one pulley provided within a main operation unit, with the base ends of a pair of operating wires wound thereupon, a pulley rotating shaft extended externally from a casing of the main operation unit to rotate the pulley, an angle operating apparatus provided outside of the main operation unit and coupled to the pulley rotating shaft, a pulley supporting assembly fixedly held by the casing of the main operation unit for supporting the pulley to be reciprocally rotated over a predetermined angle, a sleeve member provided within the main operation unit for passing through the operating wires from the pulley, a pipe holder fixedly mounted to the sleeve member, and a supporting rod connected at one end to the pulley supporting assembly and being fixed to the pipe holder at the other end.
