TL;DR: In this paper, a highly versatile exercise apparatuses including a central weight stack and opposed extension arms are described. But they do not discuss the use of a cable in the arms.
Abstract: A highly versatile exercise apparatuses is disclosed. More particularly, the invention relates to an exercise apparatus including a central weight stack and opposed extension arms. Upper and lower pulleys direct a cable into the opposed extension arms such that variations in the cable reaction and tension are minimized when either arm is moved.

TL;DR: In this article, a belt-driven miter saw with an optical system for projecting an optical alignment marker onto a workpiece is described, and a light projection system is attached to the cutting apparatus.
Abstract: A miter saw with an optical system for projecting an optical alignment marker onto a workpiece. The miter saw has a base, a turntable rotatably supported by the base, a fence disposed above the base for supporting the orientation of the workpiece located on the base, a support coupled to the rear portion of the turntable, and a cutting apparatus including a blade for cutting the workpiece. The cutting apparatus is pivotally coupled to the support for positioning the blade from a raised position above the workpiece to an operational position for engagement with the workpiece. The light projection system is attached to the cutting apparatus for projecting an optical alignment marker onto the workpiece so that the location at which the blade engages the workpiece is in a selectably adjustable relationship with respect to the position of the optical alignment marker on the workpiece. A belt-driven embodiment of the miter saw has an adjustable pulley system comprising a motor connected to a drive pulley, a blade pulley connected to the blade, the blade pulley being in substantial alignment with the drive pulley, and a belt for connecting the drive pulley with the blade pulley. An adjustment mechanism for adjusting the distance between the drive pulley and the blade pulley is provided so that the tension on the drive belt may be adjusted.

TL;DR: In this article, a home gym system is provided for performing weight lifting exercises with a load resistance (160, 164) coupled to a cable (132), which is made substantially effortless by a counter weight system coupled to guide arm assembly (130) by a flexible member.
Abstract: A home gym system (100) is provided for performing weight lifting exercises with a load resistance (160, 164) coupled to a cable (132). The home gym system (100) includes a main frame (110) to which is pivotedly coupled at least one extension frame (120). A guide arm assembly (130) is slidingly coupled to frame extension (120) and vertically displaceable thereon. Vertical displacement of guide arm assembly (130) is made substantially effortless by a counter weight system (140) coupled to guide arm assembly (130) by a flexible member (141). Counter weight system (140) includes a floating pulley system (145) to compensate for changes in cable path length which result from the vertical displacement of guide arm assembly (130). Additionally, guide arm assembly (130) includes a system for increasing the load resistance by varying the mechanical advantage of the cable system. The change in mechanical advantage is accomplished by coupling the releasable coupling (192) at the exit end of cable (132) to the pivotable arm member (172) allowing the cable to be withdrawn from guide arm assembly (130) by displacement of both the exit end of cable (132) and a portion of cable (132) from a position intermediate a first pulley assembly (134) by a second pulley assembly (136), when pivotal arm member (172) is displaced.

TL;DR: A rotary lawn mower mounted on a tractor is equipped with a blower operable to move grass clippings and loose debris from the mower into collection bags as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A rotary lawn mower mounted on a tractor is equipped with a blower operable to move grass clippings and loose debris from the mower into collection bags. The blower has a rotatable impeller located within a housing attached to the side of the mower. A belt and pulley drive connects the horizontal impeller shaft to an upright blade drive shaft of the mower to rotate the impeller concurrently with the grass cutting blades of the mower. A pair of idler pulleys mounted on one or more supports secured to the housing aligned a single endless belt with the vertical pulley on the impeller drive shaft and change the orientation of the belt from horizontal to vertical and back to horizontal as the belt travels around the pulleys mounted on the impeller and blade shafts.

TL;DR: A rotary tightening device for a safety belt has a belt retractor including a housing and a belt take-up shaft rotatably supported in the housing as mentioned in this paper, which rotates in the direction of the safety belt.
Abstract: A rotary tightening device for a safety belt has a belt retractor including a housing and a belt take-up shaft rotatably supported in the housing. The belt-take-up shaft has one end of the safety belt connected thereto. Upon triggering of the rotary tightening device, the belt take-up shaft is rotated in a belt take-up direction of the safety belt. A drive wheel is connected to the shaft. The housing has a channel extending in a plane parallel to a radial plane of the drive wheel and extending at least partially about a circumference of the drive wheel. Mass bodies are positioned loosely adjacent to one another in the channel. The mass bodies, when accelerated, act on the drive wheel for driving it. The drive wheel has at the circumference a gearing in which the mass bodies are received for driving the drive wheel. A spacing of the gearing is substantially identical to a spacing between the mass bodies.
