TL;DR: In this paper, a pulsed dye laser system with a narrow-band signal injected into the cavity is considered, where the injection starts prior to the excitation pulse, and the analysis is based on a set of coupled rate equations for the population densities and photon fluxes at all wavelengths.
Abstract: A pulsed dye laser system with a narrow-band signal injected into the cavity is considered. The injection starts prior to the excitation pulse. It is shown that during a transient period, injection locking can be achieved for a much wider range of parameters than under conventional CW conditions. The analysis is based on a set of coupled rate equations for the population densities and photon fluxes at all wavelengths. These are solved numerically with appropriate initial and boundary conditions. Analytical approximations, which are helpful for understanding the behavior of such systems, are presented. Both straight, two-mirror cavities, and ring laser cavities are discussed. The temporal evolution of the spectral components at all wavelengths is described. The range of tunability in this mode of operation and its dependence on various parameters, such as pulse length, cavity dimensions, and injection intensity are discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors obtained the first continuous wave mode-locked Nd-GdVO4-KTP laser with a SESAM, achieving an incident power of 7.653 W, with the repetition about 95 MHz.
Abstract: We obtained continuous wave mode-locked Nd-GdVO4-KTP laser with a SESAM. This is the first report of CW mode-locked Nd GdVO4-KTP laser with a SESAM to our knowledge. 396mw CW mode-locked pulse is achieved at the incident power of 7.653 W, with the repetition about 95 MHz. The pulse duration is assumed to be 5.5 ps, this is the shortest green pulse of 532 nm with SESAM. (c) 2009 by Astro Ltd. Published exclusively by WLLEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA

TL;DR: It is shown that it is possible to control the spectral shape of the SC by tuning the pump wavelength of the input pulse and the consequence for CARS microscopy is discussed.
Abstract: We demonstrate coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy of lipid-rich structures using a single unamplified femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser and a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with two closely lying zero dispersion wavelengths (ZDW) for the Stokes source. The primary enabling factor for the fast data acquisition (84 μs per pixel) in the proof-of-principle CARS images, is the low noise supercontinuum (SC) generated in this type of PCF, in contrast to SC generated in a PCF with one ZDW. The dependence of the Stokes pulse on average input power, pump wavelength, pulse duration and polarization is experimentally characterized. We show that it is possible to control the spectral shape of the SC by tuning the pump wavelength of the input pulse and the consequence for CARS microscopy is discussed.

TL;DR: This is the highest average output power produced to date from Yb-ion based bulk lasers with such a short pulse duration, and the mode locking was initiated by a semiconductor saturable absorber.
Abstract: We report on the generation of 67 fs pulses from a diode pumped Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:KGW bulk laser. The average output power reached 3 W, corresponding to >38 nJ of pulse energy and >570 kW of peak power. The mode locking was initiated by a semiconductor saturable absorber. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest average output power produced to date from Yb-ion based bulk lasers with such a short pulse duration.

TL;DR: In this article, a gas discharge laser with a pulse multiplier is presented, where short pulses from the laser are divided into portions and all or all but one of these portions are delayed in delay legs by different time periods and recombined to provide a stretched output pulse having substantially reduced intensity and longer duration.
Abstract: A gas discharge laser with a pulse multiplier. In the pulse multiplier, short pulses from the laser are divided into portions and all or all but one of these portions are delayed in delay legs by different time periods and recombined to provide a stretched output pulse having substantially reduced intensity and longer duration as compared to the pulse from the laser. Focusing optics are included in each delay leg to assure that beam size and angular spread of each portion of the combined pulse is not substantially different from other portions of the pulse.
