18 Oct 2010TL;DR: An improved neutral-point potential balance control strategy based on balance factor is proposed and the principle is analyzed and simulation and experimental results verify the validity of the control strategy.
Abstract: Neutral point potential balance control is very important to three-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) rectifiers. In this paper, the balance control strategy is studied with three-level space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) algorithm based on reference voltage decomposition. An improved neutral-point potential balance control strategy based on balance factor is proposed and the principle is analyzed. Simulation and experimental results verify the validity of the control strategy.

09 Nov 1992TL;DR: It is concluded that the synchronous link power converter gives a higher performance but is more complicated to operate, while the PWM rectifier provides good performance with simple control strategies.
Abstract: The authors present a systematic comparison of the current source topology (pulse width modulation, or PWM rectifier) and the voltage source topology (synchronous link power converter) from the point of view of power converter and switch kilovolt ampere ratings. PWM patterns and input and output filtering requirements, power factor, operating regions, and control aspects. Experimental results obtained on laboratory prototypes are used to validate the theoretical considerations. In general, it is concluded that the synchronous link power converter gives a higher performance but is more complicated to operate. Unity power factor and regenerative operation are achieved with closed-loop control. The PWM rectifier provides good performance with simple control strategies. It requires a larger filter to suppress the input line harmonics, but is simple to operate since open-loop operation is possible. >

22 Oct 2001TL;DR: In this article, a simple and robust source-voltage-sensorless scheme for a PWM rectifier considering voltage unbalance conditions is proposed, which yields better robustness to measurement noises, and it works well even in the transient state.
Abstract: A simple and robust source-voltage-sensorless scheme for a PWM rectifier considering voltage unbalance conditions is proposed. When a voltage unbalance occurs in a three-phase system, the unbalance component deteriorates the performance of the voltage source estimator by generating AC disturbances. Since the the source voltage information is used to control the real/reactive power flow, the inaccurate information causes voltage fluctuation in the DC-link, the increase of reactive power, and furthermore, instability in a PWM rectifier. In this work, the proposed sensorless scheme estimates the normal components and the unbalance components of the source voltage separately by using a modified reduced-dimensional estimator. The use of the measurement's derivative quantity sensitizing the estimator to measurement noises is avoided by introducing an auxiliary variable. Thus, the proposed sensorless scheme yields better robustness to measurement noises, and it works well even in the transient state. The feasibility of the proposed sensorless scheme is confirmed through computer simulations and experiments.

TL;DR: In this paper, the D-Q tramforniation is used to analyze a three phase current source PWM rectifier and the DC operating point and AC transfer functions are conipletely determined.
Abstract: The recently proposed circuit D-Q tramforniation is used to analyze a three phase current source PWM rectifier. DC operating point and AC transfer functions are conipletely determined. Most features of the converter are clearly interpreted. They are ( 1 ) the output voltage can be controlled from zero to nzmimum, ( 2 ) the system is equivaletitly an ideal current source in the steady state, (3) the system can be described as linear circuits and ( 4 ) the input power factor can be arbitrarily controlled within a certain control range.

TL;DR: In this paper, a DC analog power supply with characteristics of a photovoltaic module is proposed to solve the problem of complex circuit and low power level, starting from a simple circuit structure.
Abstract: The invention relates to the technical field of photovoltaic power generation, especially to the technical field of a DC analog power supply with characteristics of a photovoltaic module. Problems existing in a present DC analog power supply, such as complex circuit and low power level, are solved. Starting from a simple circuit structure, curve analog of characteristics of the photovoltaic module is realized. The DC analog power supply is applied to performance test of a photovoltaic current transformer. The DC analog power supply provided by the invention is mainly composed of two parts, namely a main circuit and a control system. The main circuit adopts PWM rectifier topology and realizes the function of converting AC power to DC power. The control system is composed of an analog signal processing module, a digital signal processing module, a data communication interface, a power supply module and an algorithm processing module containing a core processing chip. Output of the DC analog power supply is controlled by reference to curve characteristics of the photovoltaic module, and it is ensured that direct voltage and direct current outputted by the DC analog power supply fit the characteristic curve of the photovoltaic module.
