TL;DR: In this article, a PWM specific harmonic elimination (PWM-SHE) switching pattern is developed in order to just eliminate the 11th and 13th harmonics, required by the proposed topology.
Abstract: This letter presents a novel current source PWM rectifier/inverter topology which has low input current harmonics and high input displacement factor, for high-power induction motor drive applications. A suitable PWM specific harmonic elimination (PWM-SHE) switching pattern is developed in order to just eliminate the 11th and 13th harmonics, required by the proposed topology. A genetic algorithm and the conjugate gradient descent method are combined to solve the nonlinear transcendental functions for PWM-SHE. This scheme converges quickly.

TL;DR: The research has established a high power factor three-phase pulse-width modulation (PWM) rectifier simplified mathematical model which can accurately reflects the operational status of PWM rectifier.
Abstract: According to high power factor and accurate outputs DC voltage which are requirements of three-phase rectifier control as known, the research establishment of one outer voltage loop and two inner current loops as double-loop control system. The outer voltage loop could resist disturbance to achieve accurate output; the inner current loop based on space vector control to achieve high power factor. The research has established a high power factor three-phase pulse-width modulation (PWM) rectifier simplified mathematical model which can accurately reflects the operational status of PWM rectifier. The corresponding PI parameters setting process is given in the text. Waveforms of simulation and experimental verification have both confirmed the simplified mathematical model and PI parameters of the system are correct.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed flux weakening control to restrict the PMSG output voltage at high speed, and consequently increase the maximum operation speed for variable speed applications, and analyzed the results in the Matlab/Simulink environment.
Abstract: Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is often linked to a PWM rectifier in order to provide a dc power supply. When such a system is used for variable speed applications, it is desirable to extend the operation speed range. Since the induced voltage of the PMSG increases with the speed, it is proposed in this paper to utilize flux weakening control to restrict the PMSG output voltage at high speed, and consequently increase the maximum operation speed. Implementation and analytical model of the flux weakening control are described, and analysis results obtained in the Matlab/Simulink environment are presented, validating the feasibility of the proposed control strategy.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a new unidirectional hybrid three-phase rectifier composed by the parallel association of a single switch three phase boost rectifier with a PWM three phase unideal rectifier.
Abstract: This paper presents a new unidirectional hybrid three-phase rectifier composed by the parallel association of a single switch three-phase boost rectifier with a PWM three phase unidirectional rectifier. The objective to be reached is to reduce the harmonic content of input currents by processing a fraction of output active power with the PWM rectifier. The proposed structure allows to obtain a THD varying between 0 and 32%, just depending on the power processed by PWM three phase unidirectional rectifier. So, if the PWM rectifier is settled to process 45% of the total output power, the THD obtained is 0. Decreasing the PWM power to about 33% of the load power is possible to achieve the standards requirements. The rectifier topology conception, the principle of operation, control scheme and simulation results are also presented in this paper.

TL;DR: This paper investigates the effects of grid voltage distortions caused by thyristor converters on the steady-state performance of a pulsewidth modulation (PWM) rectifier with dc voltage link for low-voltage applications by analyzing the disturbance transfer function of the current control loop.
Abstract: This paper investigates the effects of grid voltage distortions caused by thyristor converters on the steady-state performance of a pulsewidth modulation (PWM) rectifier with dc voltage link for low-voltage applications. The disturbance transfer function of the current control loop is used to analyze the effects of grid distortions. Influences of the current controller, the phase-locked loop parameters, and the filter inductance on the generated current harmonics are presented. For existing grid voltage harmonics, the amplitude of the corresponding current harmonics are determined and compared to measured current harmonics using a 400-V 40-kW test bench consisting of a PWM rectifier with voltage dc link parallel to a 40-kW thyristor converter.
