TL;DR: In this article, the parasitic effects being responsible for the low-frequency distortions of DC output voltage and/or current are analyzed analytically and quantified for different operating conditions, and the minimization of the influence of the parasitic effect by proper pre-control is discussed.
Abstract: According to the experimental analysis of a 5 kW wide input voltage range three-phase three-switch buck-derived unity power factor PWM rectifier, the ideally constant DC output current does show a low-frequency distortion for open-loop control operation which is translated into low-frequency harmonics of the mains current. This distortion cannot be eliminated completely by closed-loop control since the controller bandwidth has to be limited for stability reasons and/or in order to avoid an excitation of the LC input filter. In this paper the parasitic effects being responsible for the low-frequency distortions of DC output voltage and/or current are analyzed analytically and quantified for different operating conditions. Furthermore, the minimization of the influence of the parasitic effects by proper pre-control is discussed. All theoretical considerations are confirmed by digital simulations.

TL;DR: It is shown by analysis, simulations and experimental tests that 3SW-CSR offers an effective and low-cost solution to improve the quality of electrical power in applications where group of three-phase rectifiers is used.
Abstract: Thyristor and diode converters are widely used in electric power systems. These nonlinear loads produce current harmonics which reduce power quality by distorting the supply network voltages. Nowadays, an increasingly popular trends is to compensate the harmonics by using six-switch active power filters. In this paper the capability of three-switch current-source PWM rectifier (3SW-CSR) to act as an active power filter and to compensate the harmonics caused by other converter is studied. It is shown by analysis, simulations and experimental tests that 3SW-CSR offers an effective and low-cost solution to improve the quality of electrical power in applications where group of three-phase rectifiers is used

TL;DR: A new topology of PWM AC/DC converter which is cascaded VIENNA rectifier is proposed which will be introduced to control input currents and the current controller and the proposed topology is validated by the way of analysis of the experimental results.
Abstract: For a Voltage Source Converter based High Voltage Direct Current Transmission(VSC-HVDC)system the most important part is the VSC part because it determines main performance of the whole system. This paper proposed a new topology of PWM AC/DC converter which is cascaded VIENNA rectifier. In addition, in this paper a current controller based on the working modes of three-phase VIENNA rectifier will be introduced to control input currents. By this current controller the input currents can follow the corresponding references to achieve the goal of unit power factor. When this current controller is applied on the proposed cascaded VIENNA rectifier the performance will be investigated too. In order to verify the correctness of the current controller and the cascaded VIENNA rectifier, the prototype of three-phase VIENNA rectifier and single-phase two modules cascaded VIENNA rectifier are developed. The current controller and the proposed topology is validated by the way of analysis of the experimental results.

TL;DR: In this paper, a traction power supply device based on the PWM rectifier is presented, which comprises a transformer, a rectifier, a control panel, a host computer and a switching power supply.
Abstract: The invention discloses a traction power supply device based on the PWM rectifier. The device comprises a transformer, a rectifier, a control panel, a host computer and a switching power supply. The invention is characterized in that: the rectifier is a PWM rectifier, the switching power supply employs an intelligent power module with high integration degree, the control panel utilizes CPLD for failure predication and pulse blocking protection and sends six paths of PWM pulses via optical fiber interfaces to actuate power switching tubes inside the PWM rectifier, the host computer is connected with the control panel via Ethernet network and serves for the state monitoring and fault diagnosis of the rectifier, the rectifier is conducted under the current decoupling control based on the synchronously-rotating dq coordinate system, utilizes the phase-locked loop to obtain power voltage synchronizing angles and then performs PI regulation of the d-axis current and the q-axis current respectively, and generates six paths of PWM pulses by means of space vector pulse-width modulation.
