TL;DR: A mathematical formulation of the notion of an idealized continuous time quantum-mechanical communication system is given, using ideas from stochastic processes and from quantum field theory.
Abstract: A mathematical formulation of the notion of an idealized continuous time quantum-mechanical communication system is given, using ideas from stochastic processes and from quantum field theory. The formalism is developed at an abstract level and illustrated by constructing a model of a coherent quantum communication system.

TL;DR: In this article, a characterisation theorem for quantum logics has been proved for sigma -complete orthomodular lattices, which is useful for applications in quantum physics.
Abstract: Two theorems are proved. In the first properties of an important mapping from an orthocomplemented lattice to itself are studied. In the second the authors extend the characterisation theorem of Zierler (1961) to get a very useful theorem characterising orthomodular lattices Since quantum logics are merely sigma -complete orthomodular lattices, the principal result is, for application in quantum physics, a characterisation theorem for quantum logics.
