TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the results from a comprehensive grid of models computed with their code, which has now been extended to include what they consider to be all energetically important ionization states and transitions.
Abstract: X-ray ionized reflection occurs when a surface is irradiated with X-rays so intense that its ionization state is determined by the ionization parameter ξ ∝ F/n, where F is the incident flux and n the gas density. It occurs in accretion, on to compact objects including black holes in both active galaxies and stellar-mass binaries, and possibly in gamma-ray bursts. Computation of model reflection spectra is often time consuming. Here we present the results from a comprehensive grid of models computed with our code, which has now been extended to include what we consider to be all energetically important ionization states and transitions. This grid is being made available as an ionized-reflection model, REFLION, for XSPEC. Ke yw ords: accretion, accretion discs ‐ line: formation ‐ radiative transfer ‐ galaxies: active ‐ X-rays: general.

TL;DR: The detailed balance method for calculating the radiative recombination limit to the performance of solar cells has been extended to include free carrier absorption and Auger recombination in addition to radiative losses.
Abstract: The detailed balance method for calculating the radiative recombination limit to the performance of solar cells has been extended to include free carrier absorption and Auger recombination in addition to radiative losses. This method has been applied to crystalline silicon solar cells where the limiting efficiency is found to be 29.8 percent under AM1.5, based on the measured optical absorption spectrum and published values of the Auger and free carrier absorption coefficients. The silicon is assumed to be textured for maximum benefit from light-trapping effects.

TL;DR: Based on Boltzmann transport theory, an equation of phonon radiative transfer (EPRT) was developed in this paper, where the phonon-scattering mean free path was used to analyze heat transport by lattice vibrations or phonons.
Abstract: Heat conduction in dielectric thin films is a critical issue in the design of electronic devices and packages. Depending on the material properties, there exists a range of film thickness where the Fourier law, used for macroscale heat conduction, cannot be applied. In this microscale regime, heat transport by lattice vibrations or phonons can be analyzed as a radiative transfer problem. Based on Boltzmann transport theory, an equation of phonon radiative transfer (EPRT) is developed. In the acoustically thick limit, ξ L >>1, or the macroscale regime, where the film thickness is much larger than the phonon-scattering mean free path, the EPRT reduces to the Fourier law

TL;DR: The radiative properties of an atom in a cavity differ fundamentally from the atom's radiative property in free space as mentioned in this paper. But the cavity causes slight shifts in the energies of the atom, analogous to radiative shifts.
Abstract: The radiative properties of an atom in a cavity differ fundamentally from the atom's radiative properties in free space. Spontaneous emission is inhibited if the cavity has characteristic dimensions which are small compared to the radiation wavelength, and enhanced if the cavity is resonant. The cavity causes slight shifts in the energies of the atom, analogous to radiative shifts. Experiments are proposed for observing these effects.
