TL;DR: A new valveless fluid pump has been designed and tested that consists of two fluid diffuser/nozzle elements on each side of a chamber volume with an oscillating diaphragm that creates a one-way fluid flow.
Abstract: A new valveless fluid pump has been designed and tested. The pump consists of two fluid diffuser/nozzle elements on each side of a chamber volume with an oscillating diaphragm. The vibrating diaphragm produces an oscillating chamber volume, which together with the two fluid-flow-rectifying diffuser/nozzle elements, creates a one-way fluid flow. A micropump prototype with a chamber diameter of 19 mm with conical diffuser/nozzle elements has been built and tested. The maximum liquid flow rate is 16 ml/min and the maximum pump pressure is 2 m H 2 O. The pump frequency is of the order of 100 Hz.

TL;DR: In this article, a peristaltic actuator for a self-adjusting pump head assembly has a variable position pump shoe sliding securely attached to a base and a control for positioning, locking and applying a continuous reaction force on the shoe to compress the tube between the shoe and at least one roller located on the periphery of a mandrel.
Abstract: An actuator for a self-adjusting pump head assembly has a variable position pump shoe slidably attached to a base. The assembly pumps liquids through a tube in a peristaltic pump, including a translator of rotational motion into linear motion and a crank for automatically compensating for the manufacturing tolerances of the tube in the pump pivotally attached to the translator and the shoe. The crank for automatically compensating has a linkage or pair of links, carrying a helical compression spring, pivotally anchored to the translator and the shoe. The peristaltic pump includes a self-adjusting pump head, including a variable position pump shoe slidably attached to a base and a control for positioning, locking and applying a continuous reaction force on the shoe to compress the tube between the shoe and at least one roller located on the periphery of a mandrel. Thus the control further has the translator of rotational motion into linear motion, and the crank for automatically compensating for the manufacturing tolerances of the tube introduced into the pump, pivotally attached to the translator and the shoe. Alternatively the pump has a disposable manifold safety cartridge, removably attached to the base, to which ends of the tube attach. The cartridge has an asymmetrical tie bar keyed onto the base to insure that the cartridge is oriented in an acceptable manner and that the tube will be properly installed on the pump.

TL;DR: An implantable microinfusion pump system for discharging medication at a prescribed infusion rate within the human body includes a hermetically sealed housing in which a power source and circuitry for actuating the pump are contained.
Abstract: An implantable microinfusion pump system for dis pensing medication at a prescribed infusion rate within the human body includes a hermetically sealed housing in which a power source and circuitry for actuating the pump are contained. A permanently magnetized piston is moun ted for reciprocative fill and pump strokes within a pump chamber defined by a pump body member which extends between parallel-spaced walls of the housing. The body member communicates at one end with an expandable medicament reservoir adjacent one wall of the housing, and at the other end with a catheter for conveying medicament to the body. A two stage valve arrangement causes medica ment to enter the pump chamber during fill strokes of short duration and to be dispensed from the pump chamber at the prescribed infusion rate during longer duration pump strokes. To minimize current drain from the power source the piston is driven through the shorter duration fill strokes by magnetic actuator windings within the housing, and through the longer duration pump strokes by magnetic at traction between the piston and a magnetic pole piece.

TL;DR: An extracorporeal medication infusion device as mentioned in this paper provides a precise infusion rate of a liquid medication into a human or animal body using a pump chamber and a piston connected to an electromagnetic armature for altering the volume of the pump chamber in response to the actuation force.
Abstract: An extracorporeal medication infusion device provides a precise infusion rate of a liquid medication into a human or animal body. The infusion device includes a permanent portion which has a case, a battery, a programmable electronic controller, and an electromagnetic solenoid core and solenoid coil for providing an actuation force. The infusion device also includes a disposable portion which includes a reservoir filled with a liquid medication that is to be dispensed and a pump for pumping the medication from the reservoir into the user's body. The pump includes a pump chamber and a piston connected to an electromagnetic armature for altering the volume of the pump chamber in response to the actuation force.

TL;DR: In this article, a measuring device for determination of the activity or concentration of ions in solutions, which has an electrode block having several electrodes and with a flow channel, the flow channel being in connection at its one end with a sample vessel and is connected at its other end to a line, in which a pump is interposed, with calibrating solution containers.
Abstract: Measuring device for determination of the activity or of the concentration of ions in solutions, which has an electrode block having several electrodes and with a flow channel, the flow channel being in connection at its one end with a sample vessel and is connected at its other end to a line, in which a pump is interposed, with calibrating solution containers. Between the pump and the outlet of the electrode block branches off a discharge line, in which a further pump is interposed. Preferably, both pumps are combined into a peristaltic pump, the lines being laid in the segments of the pump. According to a second embodiment, the electrode block is again in connection with the calibrating solution containers. The delivery of the sample is performed however on the same side through a septum. Advantageously, the other side of the electrode block opens out into a pressure equalization vessel, into which a withdrawal line opens in which in turn the above mentioned peristaltic pump is interposed.
