TL;DR: In this paper, a wind drag reducer for trailers or cargo carrying bodies is proposed, where the front upper portion of the trailer or body is exposed above the cab of the motor vehicle connected to pull the same.
Abstract: A wind drag reducer for trailers or cargo carrying bodies wherein the front upper portion of the trailer or body is exposed above the cab of the motor vehicle connected to pull the same The drag reducer consists of two substantially flat and vertical side panel means which are each respectively attached at one end to the front or sides of the trailer adjacent the front side edges thereof and converge therefrom to a vertical line midway between the front sides of the trailer where they are connected together over top of the cab of the tractor or motor vehicle to thereby form a V-shaped structure which splits the wind and reduces the resultant drag on the sides of the trailer

TL;DR: In this paper, a speed reducer effecting speed reduction without gears and having an eccentric with a disc mounted freely for rotation on the eccentric is presented, where the disc has a plurality of elongated driving lugs or studs arranged in a circle and extending generally in a common direction parallel to the axis of rotation.
Abstract: A speed reducer effecting speed reduction without gears and having an eccentric with a disc mounted freely for rotation on the eccentric. The disc has a plurality of elongated driving lugs or studs arranged in a circle and extending generally in a common direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the speed reducer. A driven output member constructed as an output pulley is rotatable about the axis of rotation and it has a plurality of elongated driven lugs or studs arranged in a second circle circumferentially of the first circle. The driven lugs or studs are greater in number than the driving lugs. As the input rotation is applied to the speed reducer the disc has imparted thereto an eccentric circular motion but it is constrained from rotating about the eccentric or axis of rotation. As it makes its circular motion the individual driving lugs thereof periodically and successively make tangential contact with adjacent driven lugs and impart rotation thereto in a corresponding direction of rotation so that the driven member rotates at a lesser speed of rotation than the input speed of rotation.

TL;DR: In this article, a rotary hammer crusher is used to crush and shred the material and to throw the crushed and/or shredded material along a confined main path with one or more lateral passages.
Abstract: A material reducer and separator apparatus employs a rotary hammer crusher to crush and/or shred the material and to throw the crushed and/or shredded material along a confined main path. The apparatus can utilize the hammers to generate an air flow which is used to carry the lighter material. The main path is provided with one or more lateral passages which may include air draft controls to effect classified separation of crushed and/or shredded materials. Provision may also be made for wetting the material during passage through the rotary hammer crusher to facilitate passage and tearing thereof.

TL;DR: In this article, the shear control device includes a coupling shaft having a portion of reduced crosssectional area less than the cross-sectional area at any point along the screw such that the coupling shaft will break to interrupt the drive to the screw before a sufficient force is generated to break the screw.
Abstract: Apparatus for extruding plastic material includes a barrel having a screw disposed therein and rotatable to force the plastic material from an inlet to an outlet, the barrel being rotated via a motor driving a reducer having an output member driven at a speed less than the speed of the motor and a shear control device coupling the output member of the reducer with the screw and operative to interrupt rotation of the screw when the shear force between the screw and the output of the reducer exceeds a predetermined value less than the shear force required to break the screw. In one embodiment, the shear control device includes a coupling shaft having a portion of reduced crosssectional area less than the cross-sectional area at any point along the screw such that the coupling shaft will break to interrupt the drive to the screw before a sufficient force is generated to break the screw.

TL;DR: In this paper, a power transmission unit which can be used as a speed increaser or a speed reducer is described, where a cylindrical element is fixed on a shaft and a second cylinder element surrounding the first element is adapted to roll eccentrically there around and to drive an element connectable thereto.
Abstract: A power transmission unit which can be used as a speed increaser or a speed reducer. A cylindrical element is fixed on a shaft and a second cylindrical element surrounding the first element is adapted to roll eccentrically therearound and to rotatably drive an element connectable thereto. The cylindrical element may be provided with smooth contacting surfaces or alternatively gear teeth or the like to provide in either instance a slip-free engagement therebetween.

TL;DR: A planetary differential reducer using internal gears with small tooth number difference is described in this paper, where essential points of the design are considered, and an example of the reducer is manufactured.
Abstract: A planetary differential reducer using internal gears with small tooth number difference is described : Essential points of the design are considered and an example of the reducer is manufactured. The idea is used that an internal gear with small tooth number difference has theoretically a contact ratio less than unity owing to trochoidal interference, but it is practically available under suitable condition. In case that the tooth number difference of the input-side gears is not the same as that of the output-side, such an especially high reduction ratio as 1/10, 000 is obtained. The calculation methods for strength and efficiency are given and the experimental value of efficiency is shown to agree with the theoretical one. The cost down of reducers with high reduction ratio is expected from using the above reducers which can be easily manufactured with standard pinion cutters of pressure angle 20°.

Abstract: The drive has two steps, one consisting of a pair of spur gear wheels and the other being a planetary reducer. The reducer incorporates a ring gear and a carrier, with the carrier being attached to the tractor frame. The track sprocket is supported by bearings at a free end of the carrier between a pivot of the track roller frame and the planetary reducer and is linked up with the ring gear. Fitted to the same free end of the carrier is the track roller frame.
