Abstract: A compact in-line dual motor arrangement provides a redundant drive system wherein the respective motors are coupled to planetary gear reducers, each preferably of the dual harmonic drive type. The construction is such that in one stage a first drive motor and one of its two circular splines are connected to a stationary housing, and the second output circular spline is integral with a first circular spline of the second stage. The second circular spline of the second stage transmission together with the second drive motor are connected to an output member.

Abstract: A drag reducer for a gap in a land vehicle moving through air which consists of a retractable or articulated baffle, spanning approximately the entire distance of the gap. The drag reducer can be used on all land vehicles and is readily adaptable for use on railroad box cars, truck semitrailers, full trailers in tandem and vehicles towed by cars. The drag reducer can take the form of a fin mounted rigidly or with articulated joint or flexible material to allow for movement between the leading and trailing vehicles. It may also be of a retractable nature, such as an accordian arrangement, a roll-up screen, an inflatable fin, a folding plate, etc. The unit may be attached primarily to either the lead vehicle or trailing vehicle or both, however, in the case of tractor-trailer trucks, the bulk of the device is better kept with the tractor unit, because there are approximately one-third the number of tractors compared to trailers, resulting in substantial savings in the cost of equipping fleets of tractor-trailer rigs.

Abstract: A control and signal arrangement for respirators which includes a service or supply block provided with bores for receiving a pressure reducer and/or an alarm mechanism. The pressure reducer and/or the alarm mechanism are fashioned as individual detachably mounted modules. The supply or service block communicates with a compressed gas reservoir with at least one supply bore being provided in the supply block for communicating the compressed gas reservoir with the pressure reducer and/or the alarm mechanism. The pressure reducer module and/or the alarm mechanism module includes radial bores which function as gas supply bores. The radial bores terminate in continuous grooves extending around the individual modules whereby the modules can be inserted into the supply block independently of any specific angular position.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a compact device by providing a speed reducer of ion beam energy between an ion source and a mass separator, and keeping the beam transporting space between the ion source and the speed reducer at a negative high voltage. CONSTITUTION:Attention is paid to the negative voltage space between an ion source 1 and a speed reducer 5. Ant ion beam collides with a residual gas or wall within this space to generate a large quantity of secondary electrons. However, the secondary electrons are carried on a mass separator 2 side having a high voltage. Thus, the secondary electrons which neutralized the space charge of the ion beam in this space is eliminated, the ion beam is highly diverged by its own space charge, and collided with the wall in the space to loose the current. Since the beam aperture is also increased by the divergence, the beam transmitting efficiency of the speed reducer 5 is also reduced. To prevent the outflow of the secondary beams, an electrode having a voltage lower than the negative voltage of line space is arranged as one of the electrode voltages of the speed reducer 5, whereby the outflow can be prevented. Thus, the effect of neutralizing the ion beam space charge by the secondary electrons can be kept.

The differential area piston is movable in the sleeve to open and close the passage to perform a pressure modulating operation on the fluid transmitted from the high pressure chamber to the low pressure chamber.

A plug-valve is located in the housing to provide drainage and the plug-valve is connected to the rotary valve so that on reversal of flow, the plug-valve opens to drain the unit.

Abstract: An engine speed reducer responsive to positioning of a transmission shift lever which selectively determines the vehicle speed range and its direction of travel includes an apparatus operatively associated with a control linkage for moving it in a direction to decrease the speed of an engine from a predetermined high speed to an intermediate speed. An actuating device is operatively connected to the apparatus and is operative in response to shifting of the transmission shift lever to a reverse speed setting automatically to actuate the apparatus so that the engine speed is reduced.

Abstract: The bypass system prevents the fracture of a pipeline which is arranged between a storage tank containing liquid hydrocarbon such as petrol, butane or propane and a user. The delivery pipeline has a closing valve and a pressure reducer. The bypass protection line is used to cover the situation when the safety release valve of the system is not able to cope with the pressure increase in the pipeline. The situation is especially critical when liquid hdyrocarbon fuels are used. The pressure within the pipeline can be increased enormously due to temperature variations. the protected pipeline has two parallel lines one of which contains the closing valve and the other parallel line contains a non-return valve which is closed in the flow direction from the storage tank to the user.

Abstract: The incoming lignite is separated into two batches, the first of lumps bigger than a given size, and the second smaller. The first batch is delivered to a reducing unit producing lumps smaller than the given size. These, together with those in the second batch, are delivered to a first receiving unit. A second receiving unit is also provided, to which the first batch can be alternatively directed, the flow from the separator to the reducer unit being simultaneously interrupted. The reducer can incorporate a mechanism dividing the incoming material lumps into sizes greater and smaller than a second predetermined figure.
