TL;DR: A backlash reducer for a gear transmission system comprises a main gear and an auxiliary gear which form one of a driving gear and a driven gear in mesh therewith of the gear transmission as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A backlash reducer for a gear transmission system comprises a main gear and an auxiliary gear which form one of a driving gear and a driven gear in mesh therewith of the gear transmission system. The main gear is mounted on a rotary shaft for rotation therewith, and the auxiliary gear is mounted on the rotary shaft for rotation relative thereto. A backlash reducing mechanism is operable in response to a centrifugal force due to rotation of the rotary shaft for angularly moving the main and auxiliary gears relative to each other to reduce a backlash between the driving and driven gears. The backlash reducer may further comprise a mechanism for restraining the backlash reducing action of the backlash reducing mechanism. Alternatively, the backlash reducer may comprise a first mechanism operable in response to the centrifugal force to move the auxiliary gear axially thereof and a second mechanism for converting the axial movement of the auxiliary gear to circumferential movement thereof.

TL;DR: In this paper, a reducing joint assembly for bus ducts is presented, which, when attached at one end thereof to a bus duct having a predetermined number of runs, allows interconnection of these non-matching ducts without undue wasted length or materials.
Abstract: A reducing joint assembly which, when attached at one end thereof to a bus duct having a predetermined number of runs and at the other end thereof to a bus duct having a different number of runs, allows interconnection of these non-matching ducts without undue wasted length or materials. The reducing joint assembly includes one conventional single bolt coupler at each end thereof for each run to be connected at that respective end of the assembly. Connected between the respective single bolt couplers is a single reducer plate for each phase of the bus duct system. Each such reducer plate has tabs at each end, one for each single bolt coupler, so that the reducer plates in effect interconnect with the single bolt coupler in generally the same manner as do the bus plates of each bus duct. The apparatus also includes specialized joint covers for covering the joint thus created to prevent the entry of foreign objects.

TL;DR: In this article, a planetary reducer with internal gear is proposed to reduce the series of gear drive and to save materials, which is called the utility model of planetary reducers with internal gears.
Abstract: The utility model relates to a planetary reducer with internal gear, which belongs to a universal mechanical driving device. The utility model has the advantages of reasonable design, compact structure, small size, light weight, saving labor, low cost, high efficiency and good manufacturability. Besides, the planetary reducer with internal gear can fully utilize strength capacity of a fixed annulus gear. Compared the other reducers which exports a similar torque, the planetary reducer with internal gear need not increase the series of gear drive and can export a large torque and large transmission ratio. Then the problem which people want to solve for a long time is solved. The utility model not only can decrease the series of gear drive, but also save materials. Meanwhile, the planetary reducer with internal gear is easily standardized and seriated because of simple structure.

TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus for varying the damping characteristics of a shock absorber of the kind comprising a piston rod and an adjusting shaft mounted coaxially within the piston rod for rotation relative to the piston rods is described.
Abstract: An apparatus for varying the damping characteristics of a shock absorber of the kind comprising a piston rod and an adjusting shaft mounted coaxially within the piston rod for rotation relative to the piston rod. Upon a change in its angular position relative to the piston rod, the adjusting shaft effects a change in an effective oil passage area in the shock absorber, and thus varies its damping characteristics. The adjusting shaft (16) has a free end (15) located at the end of the piston rod. The apparatus comprises a housing (4, 18, 19, 50) arranged to be attached to the end of the piston rod. The housing accommodates, in succession: an electric motor (1) adapted to be driven and positioned in two directions; a speed reducer (2) coupled to an output shaft (26) thereof; and a universal joint (3) disposed between an output member (33) of the speed reducer (2) and the free end (15) of the shock absorber adjusting shaft (16).

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed to produce a tough steel pipe having high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and less anisotropy of toughness by subjecting a specifically composed ingot successively to heating, hot rolling, quick cooling, reheating, diametral reducing and air cooling under specific conditions.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce a tough steel pipe having high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and less anisotropy of toughness, by subjecting a specifically composed ingot successively to heating, hot rolling, quick cooling, reheating, diametral reducing and air cooling under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION: The ingot made of the compsn. contg., by weight %, 0.2W0.55% C, 0.01W0.6% Si, 0.3W1.8% Mn, and 0.005W0.06% Sol Al, and consisting of the balance Fe and unavoidable impurities is heated in a 1,050W1,250°C range. The ingot is then pierced by a piercer and is hot rolled by a mandrel mill. The finishing temp. is set at ≥800°C. The rolled steel is further quickly cooled down to ≤350°C at ≥200°C/min cooling rate in a 800W500°C range to form the structure substantially consisting of ≥50vol% martensite and the balance bainite. The steel is then reheated to the Ac 1 transformation point W (Ac 1 transformation point - 200°C) at which there is substantially no formation of martensite; thereafter, the steel is subjected to the diametral reducing at ≥5% reduction ratio by using a reducer and is air cooled, by which the rolled steel pipe is formed. TL;DR: In this article, the shape of the fitting base of a circular sprine is changed to provide a holder between the circular spine 1 and the base of the spine 2 to support elastically the spines.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the variation of torque in a harmonic speed reducer for preventing effectively the vibration due to this, by providing a harmonic speed reducer with a holder having been worked in a coil-spring shape at the middle part of a cylinder having the same center as a circular sprine. CONSTITUTION:The shape of the fitting base 4 of a circular sprine 1 is changed to provide a holder 6 between the circular sprine 1 and the base 4. This holder 5 supports elastically the circular sprine 1. Accordingly, for instance, when the central axis of the fitting base 4 of the circular sprine 1 and that of an output shaft 3 is inclined as much as an inclination theta, the holder 5 deforms elastically as much as the amount corresponding to the inclination theta. Thus, without forcing an abnormal deformation on the circular sprine 1 and a flexible sprine 2, the engagement of teeth can be maintained normal, and the variation of torque in a harmonic speed reducer can be reduced.

TL;DR: In this article, a gripper chain assembly is driven by its own headshafts, which are powered from a motor/reducer combination and rotate in opposite senses and are coupled by an end-less belt.
Abstract: OF THE DISCLOSURE Each gripper chain assembly is driven by its own headshaft. The headshafts rotate in opposite senses and are powered from a motor/reducer combination. A sheave on the output shaft of the reducer is coupled by one endless belt with a sheave on one of the headshafts, and it is also coupled with a sheave on the other of the headshafts by another end-less belt. The one belt is in a non-twisted configuration so that the sheave on the one headshaft rotates in the same sense as the reducer output shaft. The other belt is twisted into a figure eight configuration so that the sheave on the other headshaft rotates in the opposite sense. The two head-shafts therefore provide the desired counter-rotation of the two gripper chain assemblies. The motor reducer is mounted on a base plate which is adjustably positionable on the con-veyor's frame so as to enable the drive to be adjusted when-ever the spacing distance between the two gripper chain assemblies is adjusted for conveying a different sized article. A separator is mounted on the base plate to maintain separation of the twisted drive belt where it crosses itself. In one em-bodiment the base plate is secured by fasteners, but is adjust-ably positionable by loosening the fasteners, performing the adjustment, and then retightening the fasteners. In another embodiment the base plate is mounted on guides and biased to maintain tension in the endless belts while allowing its automatic tracking of gripper chain assemblies' adjustment without the need to loosen and retighten fasteners. The bias may be provided by a counterweight or by springs.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed to reduce film unevenness due to diffraction by wider setting the width of a slit opening of a shading cover than the luminous width of the super high pressure mercury lamp while oscillating or moving the lamp in the longitudinal and orthogonal directions of the lamp.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce film unevenness due to diffraction by wider setting the width of a slit opening of a shading cover than the luminous width of a superhigh pressure mercury lamp while oscillating or moving the mercury lamp in the longitudinal and orthogonal directions of the lamp in the horizontal plane for shortening an exposure time. CONSTITUTION:One end of a crank rod 5 is attached to a finger plate 3 connected to a motor 1 through a speed reducer 2 in the position eccentrical from a rotary axis 4 while attaching the other end of the rod 5 to a lamp house 7 housing a mercury lamp 6. The mercury lamp 6 is fixed inside the house 7 so that the longitudinal direction may be parallel to the (x) axis while the sliding frames 8 are attached to both ends of the house 7 slidably in the (y) axis direction. The width of an arc 9 of the mercury lamp 6 is about 0.5mm while the width of a slit hole 11 of a shading cover 10 shall be 2mm. And during exposing the house 7 at least more than once, the house 7 is made to slide in parallel to the (y) axis width the amplitude of 1.5mm. In this way, film unevenness due to Fresnel diffraction can be reduced by shortening an exposure time.

TL;DR: In this article, a dynamic vibration reducer is used to stabilize the characteristics of a DVR and miniaturize the reducer by making the outside air run into/out of the DVR every time a weight vibrates in the vertical direction, thereby cooling off an oil cylinder.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize the characteristics of a dynamic vibration reducer and miniaturize the reducer by making the outside air run into/out of the dynamic vibration reducer every time a weight vibrates in the vertical direction, thereby cooling off an oil cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A weight 11 is placed on a substrate 2 via a plurality of coil springs 7, while an oil damper consisting of an oil cylinder 4, a piston 6, etc. is arranged between the substrate 2 and the weight 11. The substrate 2 is connected to the lower part of the weight 11 with a rubber bellows 13, thereby forming an air chamber inside the bellows 13. At the same time, an air inlet port 14 and an air outlet port 15 are made, which are provided with a lower valve 16 and an upper valve 16, respectively. With this contrivance, since when the weight 11 vibrates, the air runs into or out of the air chamber 13 to cool off the oil cylinder 4, the characteristics of the dynamic vibration reducer can be stabilized, and it is unnecessary to enlarge the cylinder 4.
