TL;DR: In this article, the sinusoidal angular speed pattern is transmitted from the intermediate shaft to the output shaft in a certain decelerated condition only while the intermediate-shaft turns through a half of each turn, and the motion transmission takes plane gently without causing undesired shock at the beginning and end of the motion.
Abstract: An intermittent drive mechanism includes a pair of non-circular dirve and driven gears (13, 14) for translating a constant velocity rotary motion of an input shaft (12) into a non-uniform velocity rotary motion of an intermediate shaft (15), the latter-mentioned rotary motion having a sinusoidal angular speed pattern, and a harmonie speed reducer (17) drivingly connecting the intermediate shaft (15) to an output shaft (16) which is connected to a flexible spline of the speed reducer (17). A rigid circular spline of the speed reducer (17) is angularly reciprocated under the control of an eccentric cam (32) on the input shaft (12) in such a manner that the motion of the sinusoidal angular speed pattern is transmitted from the intermediate shaft (15) to the output shaft (16) in a certain decelerated condition only while the intermediate shaft (15) turns through a half of each turn. The motion transmission takes plane gently without causing undesired shock at the beginning and the end of the motion.

TL;DR: In this paper, a porous partitioning member is inserted in a tank and given resistance to motion of the inner fluid in a dynamic vibration reducer in order to facilitate simplification, adjustment and maintenance of a structure.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate simplification, adjustment and maintenance of a structure by inserting a porous partitioning member soaked in a tank and giving resistance to motion of the inner fluid in a dynamic vibration reducer in which the inner fluid having free surface is stored in the tank and anti rolling is made by sloshing of the inner fluid. CONSTITUTION:A tank 1a is designed to attenuate its motion with viscosity resistance of inner fluid by a mesh type baffle 2a against vibration on the x-z plane and against that on the y-z plane. Thus, by inserting a porous partitioning member, structure simplification, easy adjustment and maintenance can be realized. Therefore, attenuation value and specific vibration number can easily be adjusted and aged deterioration is less as there is no vibration part. And the direction to which the reducer works can be set variously to 1 direction, 2 directions or non direction by changing the shape of the vessel. Further, specific vibration number can set to a desired number by the shape of the tank and its liquid amount.

Abstract: A backstop for a reducer having a casing comprises a one-way cylindrical clutch having a plurality of circularly arranged locking elements therein engaged by the periphery a reducer input shaft passing axially therethrough. To achieve a precise concentricity of the reducer shaft and the circularly arranged locking elements so that each element is stressed, the clutch is loosely housed in and loosely keyed to a clutch casing which is in turn firmly attached to a portion of the reducer casing and the one-way clutch and circularly arranged locking elements are then bushing aligned concentric with the reducer input shaft extending axially therethrough.

TL;DR: It is shown that the least upper bound on the length of any profitable semijoin program is N*(N−1) for a query graph of N nodes, and the minimum response time is given by the largest cost path of the partial order graph.
Abstract: A reduced cover set of the set of full reducer semijoin programs for an acyclic query graph for a distributed database system is given. An algorithm based on this reduced cover set is then presented which determines the minimum cost full reducer program. We show that the computational complexity of finding the optimal full reducer for a single relation is of the same order as that of finding the optimal full reducer for all the relations. The optimization algorithm is able to handle query graphs where more than one attribute is common between the relations. We also present a method for determining the optimum profitable semijoin program. The computational complexities of finding the optimum cost semijoin program is high. We present a low cost algorithm which determines a near optimal profitable semijoin program. We do this by converting a semijoin program into a partial order graph. This graph also allows us to maximize the concurrent processing of the semijoins. It is shown that the minimum response time is given by the largest cost path of the partial order graph. We can use this reducibility as a post optimizer for the SDD-1 query optimization algorithm. Finally, it is shown that the least upper bound on the length of any profitable semijoin program is N*(N−1) for a query graph of N nodes.

TL;DR: In this article, a damping device between mechanical elements adapted to relatively displace periodically, thereby to absorb kinetic energy is proposed. But the damping mechanism is not considered in this paper.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize damping force by providing a damping device between mechanical elements adapted to relatively displace periodically, thereby to absorb kinetic energy. CONSTITUTION:When external force is applied to pendulums in the movable direction, weights 12, 12a are vibrated in the directions of arrows 18, 18a nearly with their natural frequencies (n1). When springs 6, 6a, 6b, 6c are loaded on the pendulums, and external force is similarly applied thereto, the weights are vibrated with their natural frequencies (n2). Accordingly, if the natural frequency (n2) of a dynamic vibration reducer is matched with the natural frequency N of a vibration controlled structure, both the reducer and the structure resonate, and kinetic energy of resonance is converted to thermal energy to stabilize the damping force.
