Abstract: A motorized rotary joint for robots integrates a joint bearing with a power transmission, such as a planetary type speed reducer, and provides a large central hole for passing electric and service lines therethrough. The rotary joint includes a built-in rotor and stator arrangement within the same joint housing structure, thus allowing the electric motor to share the same bearings and housing structure with the speed reducer. Preferably, the rotor also carries planets of the reducer and the stator is either integral or coupled to a housing of the reducer. The rotary joint also accommodates an encoder, a circuit board having electronic components thereon and a built-in brake to provide a totally integrated, intelligent rotary joint. A method for constructing a modular robot using the rotary joint is also provided, wherein several such rotary joints are coupled to simple structural elements by means of bolted interfaces to construct a multi-joint robot of an articulated structure. Such a modular robot has low cost, is easy to maintain and service, and can be readily and speedily constructed and reconfigured from integrated modular components.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for processing a measurement process to estimate a signal process, even if the signal and/or measurement processes have large and/or expanding ranges. The method synthesizes training data comprising realizations of the signal and measurement processes into a primary filter for estimating the signal process and, if required, an ancillary filter for providing the primary filter's estimation error statistics. The primary and ancillary filters each comprise an artificial recurrent neural network (RNN) and at least one range extender or reducer. Their implementation results in the filtering apparatus. Many types of range extender and reducer are disclosed, which have different degrees of effectiveness and computational cost. For a neural filter under design, range extenders and/or reducers are selected from those types jointly with the architecture of the RNN in consideration of the filtering accuracy, the RNN size and the computational cost of each selected range extender and reducer so as to maximize the cost effectiveness of the neural filter. The aforementioned synthesis is performed through training RNNs together with range extenders and/or reducers.

A hollow input shaft 22 which is provided for the inner side of the speed reducing mechanism section 25 and is connected to the speed reducing mechanism section 25, is connected to the drive shaft 51 of the drive motor 5 via a speed reducing means, and a cable 7 feeding electric power is designed to pass through the inside of the hollow input shaft 22 within the swivel section 3. Abstract: An apparatus for metering an accurate flow of a first fluid, at a low pressure and a low flow rate, into a conduit conducting a flow of a second fluid, at a much higher pressure and much greater flow rate, comprises a pressure reducer containing a nozzle and a peristaltic pump connected in fluid communication with the pressure reducer. The pressure reducer is connected in the conduit and the nozzle of the pressure reducer increases the flow rate of the second fluid flowing through the pressure reducer, thereby correspondingly reducing the pressure of the second fluid in the pressure reducer. The peristaltic pump supplies the first fluid to an area of the bore through the pressure reducer where the nozzle has decreased the pressure of the second fluid channeled through the pressure reducer. A pressure relief valve communicates with the pressure reducer to prevent the pressure of the second fluid from decreasing below a third fluid pressure.

Abstract: Pressure reducers (15) for animal watering troughs serve for reducing the water pressure of a water supply pipe which feeds the watering line to a defined, lower watering pressure. In contrast, water of a higher rinsing pressure is required for rinsing the animal watering troughs. For this purpose, the water supply pipe must be directly connected to the watering line via a bypass which bridges the pressure reducer (15). To avoid the bypass pipe, the pressure reducer (15) is constructed according to the invention in such a way that, by a suitable means, in particular a retaining device (47), the regulating device (46) of the pressure reducer (15) which reduces the water pressure is put out of operation in terms of functioning. The water from the water supply pipe can thus flow at non-reduced pressure through the pressure reducer (15) for rinsing the watering line.

The helical worm wheel 10 and an eccentric member 11 are spline coupled to each other, and a pin flange 13 is rotated by a planetary gear structure of a trochoid-tooth-profile inscribing type. Consequently, a pinion shaft (output shaft) 14 integrated with the pin flange 13 rotates, and an outside gear 19 rotates.

Abstract: Pressure-reducing devices are used to reduce the gas pressure from that existing in the high-purity compressed gas system to ambient conditions in order to measure the particulate contaminants. This study deals with the design and performance evaluation of a pressure reducing device. The pressure reducing device using an orifice plate geometry has been designed by calculating the design parameters taking into account low particle loss, compactness, and light weight. The pressure reducer is designed to operate at an upstream pressure up to 150 psig (1034.3 kPa) and for a variety of high purity gas types such as N2, O2, air, and Ar. For the University of Minnesota pressure reducer, the background was found to be 80% and decreased for larger particle size with 50% penetration at approximately 3 μm and 10% penetration at 5 μm. Abstract: A two-stage speed reducer including a planocentric gear arrangement which has a rotatable output ring gear and a planet gear mounted within the ring gear for orbital movement. The teeth on the ring gear and the planet gear are tapered to permit axial adjustment of the planet gear with respect to the ring gear and thereby eliminate backlash between the two. Adjustment means is provided to permit axial adjustment of the planet gear with respect to the ring gear. After a period of use of the speed reducer, the planet gear may be readjusted axially relative to the ring gear to compensate for backlash created between the teeth of the planet gear and ring gear due to wear.

By applying the same principle, a second substance may also be arranged on the temperature reducer so that this second substance undergoes a transition which demonstrates that the hot body has reached a so-called "ready for use" temperature. In performing inching operation or the like in hoisting the suspended load, vibration acceleration of the girder 10 composing a main vibration system is detected indirectly by the acceleration detector 21, and a speed signal is obtained by an integrator 36 based on its detection signal. This speed signal is sent to a DC amplifier 35, and an amplified signal is applied through a servo driver 34 to the dynamic vibration reducer 3 for driving to generate inertial force in accordance with a vibration speed. CONSTITUTION:A joint arm 5 is rotatably mounted to the output side face of the fitting flange 8 of a speed reducer 7 through a rotary bearing 6, and the input side face of the fitting flange 8 of the speed reducer 7 is mounted from the front part of a base arm 1. Accordingly, there is no need to provide a rotary bearing mounting housing to be extended from the base arm 1 so as to reduce the weight of the base arm 1 and joint arm 5 and to simplify structure. In addition, since the mounting face of the speed reducer 7 is placed at the front face of the base arm 1, the machining of the mounting face can be made simple, and assembling mandays can be reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify a design and assembling work and hence improve reliability by reducing a flow passage sectional area of a downstream refrigerant flow passage pipe in a condenser compared with that of another refrigerant flow passage pipe to ensure a pressure reducing function. CONSTITUTION:A partitioning plate 32 is provided in header pipes 27, 28 to partition flattened pipes 29 of a predetermined number. A partitioning plate 32a is provided between the most downstream side flattened pipe 29a and an adjacent flattened pipe 29 in the header pipe 28 to permit the most downstream side flattened pipe 19a as a pressure reducer. Although any through-holes are provided through the flattened pipe 29 in order to increase a contact area between a refrigerant and the flattened pipe 29, the number of those through-holes are reduced for the use of the flattened pipe 29 as the pressure reducer. Hereby, a condenser and the pressure reducer are integrally assembled between a pair of the header pipes. Thus, there is eliminated the need of parts such as a capillary tube and the like, and hence there is also reduced the number of parts. Further, there is eliminated a welding process to reduce the manufacturing cost.
