Abstract: Compared with common speed reducers, the cycloidal ones (also known as cycloid drives) cover a wider range of transmission ratios, have a higher load-carrying capacity, are smaller, exhibit a smoother running and a good efficiency. These characteristics make them attractive for industrial applications, especially for robotics applications, machine tools and linear axis positioning in assembly machinery. In this paper, a theoretical and experimental investigation on an innovative cycloidal speed reducer will be presented. The typical cycloid drive has a planet wheel, the profile of which is the inner offset of an epitrochoid, meshing with cylindrical rollers connected to the case. This reducer, on the contrary, has an external ring gear, the transverse profile of which is the external offset of an epitrochoid, and engages with the planet wheel by means of cylindrical rollers. This paper will investigate the structural characteristics and the kinematical principles of this type of reducer. A theoretical approach based on the envelope theory (following Litvin’s approach) will be developed and compared with a development of Blanche and Yang’s approach. Furthermore, a simplified procedure to calculate force distribution on cycloid drive elements, as well as its power losses and theoretical mechanical efficiency will be presented. The effects of design parameters on the values of the forces will be studied, for an optimal design of this type of reducer. The theoretical model will be then tuned using the results of tests on a specific rig. As a result of the experimental tests, the reducer mechanical efficiency dependency on speed and torque will be described. The aim of this work is to perform the fine tuning of a theoretical model in order to predict the operating behavior of the cycloid drive, and to improve its design procedure.Copyright © 2007 by ASME

Abstract: This paper uses the theory of gearing to derive the mathematical model of an internal cycloidal gear with tooth difference. Whereas the outer rotor profile is based on a curve equidistant to a hypotrochoidal (or extended hypocycloid) curve, the inner rotor design generally depends upon type of use-e.g., when used as a speed reducer, it is a pin wheel. Therefore, this analysis proposes designs for both a gerotor and a speed reducer. Specifically, for an inner rotor used as a gerotor pump, it outlines a mathematical model to improve pump efficiency and derives a dimensionless equation of nonundercutting. For the speed reducer, it develops and demonstrates with numerical examples, a feasible design region without undercutting on the tooth profile or interference between the adjacent pins.

Abstract: A wheel driven utility vehicle includes a frame and two small volume high speed alternating current electric motors arranged side by side for driving the vehicle. Alternatively high speed direct current, hydraulic or pneumatic direct current motors may be used with suitable controls. Each motor has an output shaft which drives an offset planetary gear reducer. Each offset planetary gear reducer is affixed to the electric motor and includes an output carrier interconnected with an output shaft. Each output shaft includes first and second chain drive sprockets which drive chains interconnected with shafts driving the front and rear wheels respectively. Each offset planetary gear reducer enables use of space saving high speed relatively low-torque alternating current electric motors with attendant large speed reductions. Gear reduction enables the production of sufficient torque at the wheels of the vehicle. Applications in addition to utility vehicles are also specifically contemplated.

SOLUTION: The wheel 11 is drivably constituted by decelerating rotation force of a motor 31 arranged in the wheel 12 by a plurality of speed reducers 32, 33 and transmitting it to the wheel 12. The motor 31 and the respective speed reducers 32, 33 are stored in a housing 26, and a lower ball joint 62 for connecting the lower arm 61 and the knuckle arm 29 is arranged so as to be opposed to a radial direction of the first speed reducer 32 and the wheel 12. A housing body 27 and an outer peripheral part of a ring gear 41 of the first speed reducer 32 are connected by a spline 45, and tooth lack parts 27c, 41b are formed at positions opposed to the lower ball joint 62 in the circumferential direction of the spline 45. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-wheel motor drive, in which an overload state of an in-wheel motor unit including a motor and a reducer is simply determined, a vehicle is driven with the in-wheel motor unit in the optimum state, and reliability of the motor and the reducer are secured. SOLUTION: The in-wheel motor drive comprises a bearing A for a wheel, the motor B, the reducer C provided between the motor B and the bearing A for a wheel, and a controller 51 to control driving of the motor B. A temperature sensor 56 is provided to measure the temperature of the in-wheel motor unit U comprising the bearing A for a wheel, the motor B, and the reducer C. A temperature-respondent motor control means 57 is provided to limit drive current to the motor B, or decrease the motor rotation number in accordance with temperature information measured by the temperature sensor. Abstract: A system for reducing pressure drop associated with turbulent fluid flow through subsea conduits. Such reduction in pressure drop is accomplished by transporting a hydrate inhibited drag reducer through a long conduit of small diameter, and thereafter injecting the drag reducer into a host fluid at the subsea location, to make a treated fluid. The treated fluid is then extracted from the subsea location via a production/transportation conduit. The presence of the drag reducer in the treated fluid reduces pressure drop associated with flow through the production/transportation conduit.

The said displacement structure is six leg walking structure, with each leg's drive joint made of the generator, harmonic decelerator installed at both ends of the generator and the planetary reducer connected to it and they are forming into a module with the umbrella gear connected to the planetary reducer, with both ends of the module linked with the passive pole through the joint with the machine, the sucker installed on the passive pole through the passive joint and connected to the two position three way valves. It is small in size, low in noise, free from cables. It has extensive applications.

SOLUTION: The diagnostic method is composed of a step for determining whether or not the temperature of an NOx catalyst 44 is a temperature in a prescribed temperature region which is lower than a NOx cleaning temperature region and is included in an ammonia adsorbing temperature region, a step for adding a reducer until ammonia leaks to an exhaust passage on the NOx catalyst 44 downstream side when it is determined affirmative in the determining step, and a step for determining that the NOx catalyst 44 is deteriorated when an actual addition amount or a value equivalent thereto as a total amount of the reducer added to the NOx catalyst 44 by the step for adding a reducer is not higher than a threshold γ1 for the determination of the deterioration of the NOx catalyst 44. Abstract: A method is provided for operating an internal combustion engine arrangement and to an internal combustion engine arrangement, which includes, but is not limited to an internal combustion engine, which can be operated with gaseous fuel, a pressure reducer for reducing the gas pressure of the gaseous fuel, which is fed to the internal combustion engine. The pressure reducer is connected on the high-pressure side in a fluid-conducting manner via a gaseous fuel line to at least one gas tank for storing gaseous fuel, and the pressure reducer is connected on the low-pressure side in a fluid-conducting manner by means of a gaseous fuel line to at least one controllable gas injection valve for regulating the gas flow of the gaseous fuel, which is fed to the internal combustion engine, a controllable high-pressure shutoff valve, which is arranged on the high-pressure side of the pressure reducer and is connected in a fluid-conducting manner to the pressure reducer, for shutting off the gas flow of the gaseous fuel which is fed to the pressure reducer from the gas tank. The high-pressure shutoff valve includes, but is not limited to a pilot valve with a relatively small opening cross-sectional area and a main valve with a relatively large opening cross-sectional area, and an electronic control device which is used at least for controlling the high-pressure shutoff valve and the at least one gas injection valve. In order to assume operation of the internal combustion engine with gaseous fuel, controlled by the electronic control device, the pilot valve of the high-pressure shutoff valve is opened in chronological order before the at least one gas injection valve.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wave gear speed reducer capable of further reducing vibration and a variable transmission ratio steering device using the same. SOLUTION: In this wave gear speed reducer, a flexible external gear 33 is partially meshed with a rigid internal gear 32 and a sub rigid internal gear 31, and the meshed position of these gears is circumferentially moved by rotating a wave generator to differentiate the rigid internal gear from the sub rigid internal gear. The inner surface of the rigid internal gear including the ridge line of the addendum 31T and the inner surface of the sub rigid internal gear including the ridge line of the addendum 31T are formed in conical surfaces symmetrically reduced or increased in diameter. The outer surface of the flexible external gear including the ridge line of the addendum 33T is formed in an elliptic cylindrical surface parallel to the axial direction. The flexible external gear is so elastically deformed so that the elliptic cylindrical surface is tilted along the conical surface at the meshed portions of the flexible external gear with the rigid internal gear and the sub rigid internal gear. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device and a mixer unit in which a reducer is efficiently mixed and diffused in exhaust gas, and the distribution of the spray of the passing reducer is brought into a steady state, and the reducer is allowed to flow to the inlet of a reduction catalyst. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine comprises the reduction catalyst disposed in the exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, and a reducer injection part for injecting the reducer in the exhaust passage on the upstream side of the reduction catalyst. This mixer unit for mixing and diffusing the reducer and the exhaust gas is disposed on the upstream side of the reduction catalyst and the downstream side of the injection position of a reducer injection part. The mixer unit comprises a mixer body part formed by arranging a plurality of wire meshes in the flowing direction of the exhaust gas and a diffusing member attached to the reduction catalyst side of the mixer body part. Abstract: A motor equipped with a reducer includes a motor section, and a reducer section assembled to the motor section. The motor section has a first bearing provided at the center of a bottom portion of a closed-bottomed tubular casing, a second bearing provided at the center of an end bell fitted to an opening portion of the casing, and a rotating shaft which is supported by the first bearing and the second bearing and extends outward from the motor section in such a manner that a distal end of the rotating shaft is rotatably supported by a third bearing provided within the reducer section. The motor equipped with a reducer further includes a fourth bearing adapted to support the rotating shaft and provided within the reducer section, and a bearing holder for fixedly holding the fourth bearing between the bearing holder and a stopper portion provided on the gear box.

Abstract: The present invention reduces the manufacturing cost of an eccentric oscillating type speed reducer 11 while preventing the torque transmitting capability of the eccentric oscillating type speed reducer 11 from being degraded. A part of a case 12 , which is in a meshing region 50 in which internal teeth of the case 12 mesh with external teeth of pinions 20 , is enabled to bend in a direction in which the radius of curvature thereof decreases. Thus, even when the concentration of a meshing load on the vicinity of a part, at which the manner of meshing between the internal teeth and the external teeth most differs from an ideal manner in the meshing region 50 , a part of the case 12 , which is in the vicinity of the part, bends in a direction in which the radius of curvature decreases. Consequently, the meshing load can be uniformized by being dispersed in the circumferential direction of the case 12.
