TL;DR: In this paper, two models of low profile compact disk and sleeve loaded monopole antennas are investigated for broadband applications in the VHF/UHF range Parametric studies of these configurations are performed by method-of-moments simulations Optimized performance (impedance and pattern bandwidths) of these antennas are presented and compared with that of existing designs of similar size.

07 Mar 2017TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-frequency array antenna with a reflective plate and at least two microstrip antennas having different operating frequency bands is described, where each of the two micro-strip antennas includes a respective feed network and a respective radiating element set.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of antenna technologies, and discloses a multi-frequency array antenna and a communications system. The multi-frequency array antenna includes a reflective plate and at least two microstrip antennas having different operating frequency bands, where each of the at least two microstrip antennas includes a respective feed network and a respective radiating element set, the at least two microstrip antennas include a first microstrip antenna and a second microstrip antenna, and there is an overlapping region between a graph constituted on the reflective plate by a plurality of radiating elements in a first radiating element set of the first microstrip antenna and a graph constituted on the reflective plate by at least one radiating element in a second radiating element set of the second microstrip antenna. In the present invention, the graph constituted on the reflective plate by the radiating elements in the first radiating element set is made to overlap the graph constituted on the reflective plate by the radiating element in the second radiating element set. This resolves a problem that a size of a multi-frequency array antenna is large in a related technology, reducing the size of the multi-frequency array antenna.

TL;DR: The phase mode concept that is used successfully for the analysis of circular arrays can be used also for investigation of these arrays, where the array performance is dominated by the array configuration, rather than the array elements.
Abstract: Multi-arm spiral antennas can be considered as antenna arrays where the spiral arms constitute the array elements. The proximity of the arms over the full length of the spiral and their direct coupling make such arrays unique in the sense that they operate with very strong mutual coupling. As a consequence, the array performance is dominated by the array configuration, rather than the array elements. In particular, the phase mode concept that is used successfully for the analysis of circular arrays can be used also for investigation of these arrays. For symmetric multi-arm spirals the phase mode excitation is also symmetric and used with Butler matrix type feeds in applications such as the direction finding, where the beam rotation and scanning is achieved with an aid of inter-mode phase shifts. In such applications, however, mostly the first two phase modes are utilized and mode purity has been the dominant requirement, rather than the antenna gain. In this paper the concept of phase modes is re...

20 Oct 2011TL;DR: In this paper different antenna's manufacturing and designing techniques are combined with the aim of building useful radiators resonating in the UHF band to lower costs, simplify fabrication procedures and advance usability.
Abstract: In this paper different antenna's manufacturing and designing techniques are combined with the aim of building useful radiators resonating in the UHF band. The meander lines techniques is exploited in this work with the exception of letters as meander elements. The technologically advanced and already well established silver inkjet printing technique is used for antenna realization. An unusual paper-based substrate is chosen, according with the concepts to lower costs, simplify fabrication procedures and advance usability, towards the realization of antenna for RFID applications. All design phases are discussed and a complete test of the proposed antennas is performed.
