TL;DR: In this paper, a concentric array of improved directivity Corum elements disposed about a central tower, driven by appropriate source amplitudes, produces a Fourier series approximation to any desired vertically polarized radiation pattern in the plane of the array.
Abstract: It is shown that a concentric array of improved directivity Corum elements disposed about a central tower, driven by appropriate source amplitudes, produces a Fourier series approximation to any desired vertically polarized radiation pattern in the plane of the array. The antenna system is of special interest to broadcasters (where protected contours and interference levels are legally constrained) and also to other medium- and low-frequency users who require a vertically polarized directional array. An elementary example of the pattern synthesis technique is presented. >

TL;DR: In this article, a novel antenna array producing a beam focused in the near-field zone has been developed for use in non-destructive, non-contact microwave sensing applications.
Abstract: A novel antenna array producing a beam focused in the near-field zone has been developed for use in non-destructive, non-contact microwave sensing applications. Two prototype antennas have been developed and tested, showing good agreement between predicted and measured performance, thereby validating the novel design concept.

TL;DR: In this article, a reconfigurable array of variable conductive elements is provided for reflecting, filtering and steering electromagnetic radiation across a wide range of frequencies, and the array is combined with a transmitting antenna to make a steerable antenna.
Abstract: An reconfigurable array of variable conductive elements is provided for reflecting, filtering and steering electromagnetic radiation across a wide range of frequencies. The reconfigurable array is combined with a transmitting antenna to make a steerable antenna. The reconfigurable array surrounds the transmitting antenna and reflects all transmissions except on selected radials where apertures in the reconfigurable array are formed for permitting transmission lobes. The reconfigurable arrays can be arranged in stacked layers to make transceiving multiband antennas. Communications networks using the steerable antennas and arrays are also disclosed.

TL;DR: In this article, a design method for the creation of line sources that will yield antenna patterns consisting of a narrow main beam and low sidelobes, with the sidelobe levels different on the two sides of the main beam.
Abstract: A design method is described for the creation of line sources that will yield antenna patterns consisting of a narrow main beam and low sidelobes, with the sidelobe levels different on the two sides of the main beam. The requisite aperture distribution is shown to be symmetrical in amplitude and asymmetrical in phase. Main beam offset and the characteristics of the associated difference pattern are discussed. The boresight error voltage curve is also displayed. Incremental gain resulting from asymmetric sidelobes is analyzed and data is given for typical cases. Experimental confirmation is, presented.
