TL;DR: In this article, a line focus on the cornea of an eye is proposed to create radial and circumferential curved incisions, including rectilinear and curvilinear line focus.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for delivering radiant energy beams onto an area of a cornea in a line focus to create a linear incisions. The radiant energy beams may be focused in a linear configuration onto the external surface of the cornea or onto intrastromal areas of the cornea of an eye to ablate the cornea in a radial slot, circumferential curved slot, or lenticular pattern, and thereby modify its curvature and refractive power. The apparatus includes an array of central reflectors and an assembly of peripheral reflectors. Each central reflector is associated with a respective peripheral reflector so that a beam reflected by the central reflector is intercepted by its associated peripheral reflector and is again reflected to precisely incise either external or internal areas of the cornea. Each peripheral reflector has a curved reflective surface to provide a line focus on the cornea, including both rectilinear and curvilinear line focus to create radial and circumferential curved incisions. In a modified embodiment, the assembly of peripheral reflectors and the array of central reflectors rotate to permit lathing of the cornea.

TL;DR: A spiral Fresnel reflector is formed by plotting a predetermined developed spiral on a flat sheet of reflecting material, cutting the surface of the reflecting material along the developed spiral and winding up the spiral until the spiral arms focus reflective light at a focal area.
Abstract: A spiral Fresnel reflector is formed by plotting a predetermined developed spiral on a flat sheet of reflecting material, cutting the flat sheet of reflecting material along the developed spiral and winding up the developed spiral until the spiral arms focus reflective light at a focal area. The developed spiral can have either a positive or a negative focal length.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Luneburg lens and a reflector lens along with the corresponding compact and cost-effective multibeam antennas in the Ka-band were designed and experimentally verified in the whole Ka -band.
Abstract: This paper presents a Luneburg lens and a Luneburg reflector lens along with the corresponding compact and cost-effective multibeam antennas in the Ka -band. The Luneburg lens is composed of an air-filled parallel plate waveguide (PPW) loaded with equal-sized metallic posts. The upper plate of the PPW is designed to a curved surface to meet the requirement of the equivalent refractive index profile, meanwhile providing a transition between the lens and the feed waveguide. Also, based on the law of reflection, a reflecting wall is introduced to the Luneburg lens to achieve a Luneburg reflector lens. By employing the WR28 rectangular waveguides as the feeders, the Luneburg lens/reflector lens antennas with single beam and multiple beams are designed and experimentally verified in the whole Ka -band. The multibeam Luneburg lens antenna show the beam scanning from −45° to +45° with 0.6 dB scan loss. The multibeam Luneburg reflector lens antenna show the beam scanning from 30° to 60° with 0.7 dB scan loss. Besides, the acceptable performances of aperture efficiency, impedance matching and multiport isolation are achieved. The results indicate that the works in this paper have application potential in the millimeter-wave (mmW) wireless communications.

TL;DR: In this paper, a leaky-wave slot array antenna fed by a dual offset Gregorian reflector system is realized by pins in a parallel plate waveguide, where the radiating part of the antenna is composed by parallel slots etched on one side of the same waveguide.
Abstract: A leaky-wave slot array antenna fed by a dual offset Gregorian reflector system is realized by pins in a parallel plate waveguide. The radiating part of the antenna is composed by parallel slots etched on one side of the same parallel plate waveguide. The dual offset Gregorian reflector system is fed by an arrangement constituted by two vias and a grid, also constituted by pins. Also this feed arrangement realizes a leaky type of radiation, this time inside the parallel plate waveguide. A prototype of the antenna has been designed, manufactured and successfully tested. The low profile, low cost and high efficiency of the antenna render it suited for a variety of radar or telecom applications.

TL;DR: In this paper, a switchable multichannel external cavity injection laser incorporates a diffraction grating between a linear array of n reflectors and a common reflector to define a set of n optical cavities having different frequency bands.
Abstract: A switchable multichannel external cavity injection laser incorporates a diffraction grating between a linear array of n reflectors and a common reflector to define a set of n optical cavities having different frequency bands. Each of the (n+1) reflectors is provided by the optically distal end of an associated semiconductor laser amplifier whose optically proximal end is arranged to be substantially non-reflective.
