TL;DR: In this article, a monolithic geared optical reflector was presented, which is capable of being configured into any optical instrument, such as, but not limited to, a spectrophotometer, wherein the reflector is adapted to accurately point to a plurality of locations within or out of the system via gear to gear rotation.
Abstract: A novel monolithic geared optical reflector apparatus which is configured from a gear blank machined to have an integral shaft and integral reflective surface with desired optical properties is introduced herein. Such a rotating mirror device is beneficially capable of being configured into any optical instrument, such as, but not limited to a spectrophotometer, wherein the reflector is adapted to accurately point to a plurality of locations within or out of the system via gear to gear rotation.

TL;DR: An electrodeless lamp which couples to a small bulb and obtains a relatively high light output therefrom is provided in this article, where a cavity which comprises a compound resonant structure including vestibule and reflector portions is provided.
Abstract: An electrodeless lamp which couples to a small bulb and obtains a relatively high light output therefrom. A cavity which comprises a compound resonant structure including vestibule and reflector portions is provided. The combination of vestibule and reflector results in a condition of resonance throughout the cavity, whereby strong fields are coupled to the small bulb and a reflector is provided for directing and enhancing light output.

TL;DR: In this article, a 19 element room temperature L-band PAF mounted on the Green Bank 20 Meter Telescope achieved an aperture efficiency of 69% and a system noise temperature of 66 K. The authors investigated the noise performance and sensitivity of the system as a function of elevation angle with statistically optimal beamforming and demonstrate cancellation of radio frequency interference sources with adaptive spatial filtering.
Abstract: Phased array feeds (PAFs) for reflector antennas offer the potential for increased reflector field of view and faster survey speeds. To address some of the development challenges that remain for scientifically useful PAFs, including calibration and beamforming algorithms, sensitivity optimization, and demonstration of wide field of view imaging, we report experimental results from a 19 element room temperature L-band PAF mounted on the Green Bank 20 Meter Telescope. Formed beams achieved an aperture efficiency of 69% and a system noise temperature of 66 K. Radio camera images of several sky regions are presented. We investigate the noise performance and sensitivity of the system as a function of elevation angle with statistically optimal beamforming and demonstrate cancelation of radio frequency interference sources with adaptive spatial filtering.

TL;DR: In this article, a UV light enhanced gas sensor with light reflector was designed and fabricated, and the sensor with reflector exhibited higher response to ethanol than that without reflector at room temperature.
Abstract: A UV light enhanced gas sensor with light reflector was designed and fabricated. Compared with that without reflector, the sensor with reflector had higher efficiency of UV light absorption and utilization. The sensor with reflector exhibited higher response to ethanol than that without reflector at room temperature. The response of the sensor with reflector to 100 ppm ethanol was about 160 under UV illumination. Moreover, the response and recovery kinetics were obviously improved, and the response and recovery time were 50 s and 150 s, respectively. Such obvious improvement on the sensing performance for the sensor can be ascribed to the increasing of the optical path length in the sensing material layer, due to the introduction of the reflector.
