TL;DR: Using a single offset cylindrical parabolic reflector and a parallel-plate Luneburg lens, a novel high-gain and high-efficiency antenna was developed for automotive radar at mm-wave frequencies as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Using a single offset cylindrical parabolic reflector and a parallel-plate Luneburg lens, a novel high-gain and high-efficiency antenna is developed for automotive radar at mm-wave frequencies. Particularly, a pair of small corrugated extensions is added to the lens for a cylindrical wave. Thus, by feeding a cylindrical wave to the reflector, especially the performance in elevation is enhanced, keeping the complete antenna compact. For verification, a prototype antenna for an adaptive cruise control radar at 76.5 GHz is designed and measured. The theoretical results are verified with good agreement.

TL;DR: A phase-noise-compensated configuration is proposed to reduce the influence of 1/f noise, which is the main limitation when coherent detection is used in this high-sensitivity acoustic sensing system.
Abstract: In this Letter, we demonstrate a highly sensitive quasi-distributed fiber-optic acoustic sensing system. This system interrogates a weak reflector array by using phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometry with coherent detection. A phase-noise-compensated configuration is proposed to reduce the influence of 1/f noise, which is the main limitation when coherent detection is used in this high-sensitivity system. In the experiment to simulate the scenario with a link loss of 20 km fiber and 10 m array interval, the noise level shows an acoustic signal sensitivity of 3.84 pϵ/√Hz at 10–2500 Hz.

12 Oct 1972TL;DR: In this paper, a wide field reflective optical system comprising an afocal fore telescope and an imaging system was described, where the first and second confocal paraboloidal reflectors, an aperture stop located in front of the first reflector at a distance equal to its focal length, and a field stop located at the common focal point of the reflectors.
Abstract: The disclosure describes a wide field reflective optical system comprising an afocal fore telescope and an imaging system. The afocal telescope comprises first and second confocal paraboloidal reflectors, an aperture stop located in front of the first reflector at a distance equal to its focal length, and a field stop located at the common focal point of the reflectors. The imaging system is an improvement of the Schmidt principle and comprises an aspheric corrector reflector that reflects radiation from the second paraboloidal reflector onto a plane reflector. The plane reflector is located in front of a spherical reflector that focuses radiation at its focal plane through an aperture in the plane reflector.
