22 Mar 2020TL;DR: A compact temperature sensor that directly controls a temperature-dependent self-refresh period of a mobile DRAM in 28nm CMOS using a dynamic threshold MOST (DTMOST) as a sensing device that periodically discharges a capacitor.
Abstract: This paper presents a compact temperature sensor that directly controls a temperature-dependent self-refresh period of a mobile DRAM in 28nm CMOS. It uses a dynamic threshold MOST (DTMOST) as a sensing device that periodically discharges a capacitor. The discharging voltage across the capacitor denotes a supply-independent behavior and the temperature-dependent discharging period of the DTMOST diode is detected by incorporating it into a relaxation oscillator. The sensor occupies only 0.017mm2 and achieves a 3σ inaccuracy of ±0.9°C from -10 to 90°C after 1-point trim. Operating from 0.85 to 1.15V, it shows a low supply sensitivity of 0.27°C/V at room temperature. It consumes 33.75µW and achieves a resolution of 10.2mK. This corresponds to a resolution FoM of 0.36pJ· K2.

TL;DR: Five different continuous sliding-modes controllers are provided to robustly track a desired time-varying trajectory, exponentially or in a finite time, for the Van der Pol oscillator despite the presence of external disturbances.
Abstract: Robust output tracking control of Van der Pol oscillator is an important practical problem from an application point of view. Output feedback-based robust tracking control strategies are proposed in this work for that purpose. First, a high-order sliding-mode observer is used to estimate the oscillator states from the measurable output and to identify some types of disturbances. Then, five different continuous sliding-modes controllers (Continuous-SMCs) are provided to robustly track a desired time-varying trajectory, exponentially or in a finite time, for the Van der Pol oscillator despite the presence of external disturbances. The closed-loop stability for each Continuous-SMC is given based on input-to-state stability properties. Finally, experimental validations are also provided to show the feasibility of the proposed controllers in real time.

21 Oct 1996TL;DR: The injection-locked oscillator (ILO) standard cell as discussed by the authors consists of a differential comparator and even stages of an inverter chain, and is highly suitable for standard cell applications.
Abstract: The new injection-locked oscillator (ILO) standard cell consists of a differential comparator and even stages of an inverter chain. The ILO has a very simple design and is highly suitable for standard cell applications. The new ILO can be used as a stand alone voltage control oscillator (VCO) or as a building block of a digital phase lock loop. Applications of this circuit include VCO, clock recovery, and clock synthesizer. The characteristics as well as simulation and testing results of the new ILO are presented.

Abstract: The start-up delay of an externally synchronized astable multivibrator is reduced by placing a low impedance path between ground and the base electrode of a transistor in the input circuit to the multivibrator in response to the signal which turns on the multivibrator.
