Abstract: How can we best prepare the next generation for a future which is becoming increasingly difficult to predict? This book argues that the educational curriculum is society's means of preparing children for participation in that future. From infant school to Ph.D., from religious education to social administration, it aims to provide a comprehensive critique of the curriculum. The author addresses the question: are we teaching the next gereration properly? The answer, in his view, is "no", as the curriculum is still rooted in the past and has yet to respond to changes in society.

Abstract: In this paper I will try to defend the thesis that it is possible to consider religious education as a matter of initiation into knowledge without distorting religion, because the two are not identical. After commenting on the difference of orders between religion and religious education, some important implications of this distinction regarding the proper relation of ‘first order’ (religious) experience and religious education will be studied.

Abstract: The purpose of this article is to examine the teaching of Christian beliefs in schools. We focus on two major problems in justifying such teaching, namely whether it is possible in the light of our knowledge of the religious development of children and whether it is possible without lapsing into nurture. The argument is that both these difficulties can be overcome. There is a final brief section in which the practical applications of the article are indicated.
