TL;DR: In this paper, a hardware-based offload engine is disclosed for mapping protected data into frames, where the HBA determines host addresses and the size of data to be read from those addresses.
Abstract: A hardware-based offload engine is disclosed for mapping protected data into frames. For a write operation, the HBA determines host addresses and the size of data to be read from those addresses. The HBA also determines the frame size and protection scheme for data to be written. A frame transmit engine reads each host descriptor in the host data descriptor list to determine the location and byte count of the data to be read. A DMA engine reads the protection information/scratch area to determine the exact data size used to fill each frame and the protection scheme, and retrieves one or more free frame buffers. Check bytes are inserted alongside the data and stored in free frame buffers. After each frame is filled, the frame transmit engine also generates and stores header information for that frame, and then combines header, data and check bytes for transmission over the network.

TL;DR: In this article, a temporal filter is applied to the first decoded video frame and the second encoded video frame to generate a filtered second video frame, which is used as a reference frame for generating the third encoded video frames.
Abstract: For decoding, a first portion of an encoded bitstream is decoded to generate a first decoded video frame. A second portion of the encoded bitstream is decoded to generate a second decoded video frame. A temporal filter is applied to the first decoded video frame and the second decoded video frame to generate a filtered second video frame. For encoding, a first unencoded video frame is encoded to generate a first encoded video frame. The first encoded video frame is decoded to generate a first decoded video frame. A second unencoded video frame is encoded to generate a second encoded video frame. The second encoded video frame is decoded to generate a second decoded video frame. A temporal filter is applied to the first decoded video frame and the second decoded video frame to generate a filtered second video frame. A third unencoded video frame is encoded to generate a third encoded video frame. The third encoded video frame is decoded to generate a third decoded video frame, wherein the filtered second video frame is used as a reference frame for generating the third decoded video frame. The temporal filter is applied to the filtered second video frame and the third decoded video frame to generate a filtered third video frame.

TL;DR: A modification of the class of frame synchronizers which maximize a likelihood function is proposed, if the stage following the frame sync unit is able to distinguish incorrect from correct syncs, then supplying several alternative frame starting positions effectively improves the synchronization performance.
Abstract: A modification of the class of frame synchronizers which maximize a likelihood function is proposed. If the stage following the frame sync unit is able to distinguish incorrect from correct syncs, then supplying several alternative frame starting positions effectively improves the synchronization performance. The performance of such a scheme is evaluated analytically and using simulations. As an example system, a frame sync unit followed by a decoder is assumed. The improvement achieved can amount to several decibels, and is excellent at high signal-to-noise ratios. The average overhead, required in the subsequent processing stages is evaluated and shown to be small at signal-to-noise ratios of interest. No changes need to be made to the frame structure, and only slight modifications of the receiver, are necessary. >

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of encoding information of an input signal using a fixed number of bits for each unit time frame was proposed, which eliminates fluctuations in the sound quality due to bit surplus/shortage resulting from quantization for achieving efficient encoding and decoding.
Abstract: A method of encoding information of an input signal using a fixed number of bits for each unit time frame. Part of the encoded information of at least one second frame temporally consecutively or non-consecutively preceding or following a first frame is contained in the encoded information of the first frame. This eliminates fluctuations in the sound quality due to bit surplus/shortage resulting from quantization for achieving efficient encoding and decoding.

TL;DR: In this article, a system adaptively assigns picture types used for temporal compression to frames of streaming video at the input, based on threshold testing of two metrics that are measures of distance between the frames at input, a frame may be assigned to be compressed as an I, P or B frame or be skipped over by the system without being coded at all.
