TL;DR: It is found that strong scientific and collaborative foundations exist for the continued understanding and improvement of dental ceramic systems.
Abstract: This article presents a brief history of dental ceramics and offers perspectives on recent research aimed at the further development of ceramics for clinical use, at their evaluation and selection, and very importantly, their clinical performance. Innovative ceramic materials and ceramics processing strategies that were introduced to restorative dentistry since the early 1980s are discussed. Notable research is highlighted regarding (1) wear of ceramics and opposing enamel, (2) polishability of porcelains, (3) influence of firing history on the thermal expansion of porcelains for metal ceramics, (4) machining and CAD/CAM as fabrication methods for clinical restorations, (5) fit of ceramic restorations, (6) clinical failure mechanisms of all-ceramic prostheses, (7) chemical and thermal strengthening of dental ceramics, (8) intraoral porcelain repair, and (9) criteria for selection of the various ceramics available. It is found that strong scientific and collaborative foundations exist for the continued understanding and improvement of dental ceramic systems.

TL;DR: A brief history of enamel and dentinal bonding is provided, as well as an overview of the current state of the art, to improve the reliability and predictability of dentinal adhesion.
Abstract: The acid-etch technique for bonding composite resins to enamel has revolutionized the practice of restorative dentistry. The ability of clinicians to bond restorative materials to enamel has fundamentally changed such diverse areas as cavity preparation, caries prevention, and esthetic treatment options. Although bonding of resin to dentin has proved to be a difficult challenge, ongoing advances are improving the reliability and predictability of dentinal adhesion. The purpose of this article is to provide a brief history of enamel and dentinal bonding, as well as an overview of the current state of the art.

TL;DR: The results support the use of the CIELAB colorimetric system in dentistry as a means of evaluating color by differences and could serve as a valuable tool for material selection and restoration design, particularly in the area of aesthetic restorative dentistry.
Abstract: The CIELAB colorimetric system was used for the study of the relationship between measured color difference values and human observer responses. This study verified that a specific, visually meaningful and precise relationship exists between the magnitude and direction of the measurements and the average dental-observer responses. The results support the use of this system in dentistry as a means of evaluating color by differences. The further development of such systems for clinical use would be warranted and could serve as a valuable tool for material selection and restoration design, particularly in the area of aesthetic restorative dentistry.

TL;DR: This review attempts to provide a broader meaning to the term monoblock and to see how this definition may be applied to the materials that have been used in the past and present for rehabilitation of the root canal space.

TL;DR: Since its introduction, US has become increasingly more useful in applications such as gaining access to canal openings, cleaning and shaping, obturation of root canals, removal of intracanal materials and obstructions, and endodontic surgery.
