TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of three hydrophobic microporous membranes were evaluated under vacuum enhanced direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) with a turbulent flow regime and with a feed water temperature of only 40°C.
385 citations
••
TL;DR: In this article, preliminary technical and economic correlations have been made on the production of energy from concentrated brines by pressure-retarded osmosis (PRO), where the hydraulic pressure is less than the osmotic pressure.
372 citations
••
TL;DR: A review on boron removal from seawater can be found in this article, where the main focus is on current and future technologies, current and the future for the removal of Boron.
371 citations
••
TL;DR: In this article, the role of chemical and physical interactions in cleaning of organic-fouled reverse osmosis (RO) membranes is systematically investigated, and the results showed that a metal chelating agent (EDTA) and an anionic surfactant (SDS) were able to clean the fouled RO membrane effectively by optimizing chemical (dose and pH) and physical (time, crossflow velocity, and temperature) conditions during cleaning.

TL;DR: Fouling of reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) membranes by humic acid, a recalcitrant natural organic matter (NOM), was systematically investigated in this paper.
