TL;DR: Rice bran oil (RBO) is unique among edible vegetable oils because of its unique fatty acid composition, phenolic compound (γ-oryzanol, ferulic acid) and vitamin E (tocopherol and tocotrienol) as discussed by the authors.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of various parameters on yield and conversion of oil to bio-diesel prepared from rice-bran oil was analyzed and the effect was more evident at low reaction temperatures.
Abstract: Plant oils have quite high viscosity compared to diesel fuel. These can be used as alternate fuel to run a diesel engine but this creates problems of injector coking, dilution of engine oil, deposits in various parts of engine during extended operation of the engine. Esterification of these oils reduces the viscosity to a large extent by converting the oils to bio-diesels. This paper deals with the effect of various parameters on yield and conversion of oil to bio-diesel prepared from rice-bran oil. Molar ratio of 6:1 gave very good conversion and yield of the bio-diesel for reaction time of 4 h but for a reaction time of 6 h, molar ratio of 4:1 was equally good. Percent conversion was almost same at different reaction temperatures. However, percent yield decreased with decrease in reaction temperature. High FFA content in oil affected the bio-diesel yield and the effect was more evident at low reaction temperatures.

TL;DR: In this paper, rice bran oil is used to stabilize high linolenic edible oils such as soybean oil and canola by blending the oils with rice brans oil in amounts effective to render the oils stable to oxidation.
Abstract: High linolenic edible oils such as soybean oil and canola are stabilized by blending the oils with rice bran oil in amounts effective to render the oils stable to oxidation. Preferred embodiments employ from about 0.5% to about 10%, more narrowly from about 2% to about 5%, by weight rice bran oil specially processed to retain unsaponifiable matter. In one embodiment, physically refined rice bran oil is used. The natural stabilized oil is especially useful as a spray oil for crackers, nuts, chips, and other snack products.

TL;DR: In this paper, a nano-emulsion containing purple rice bran oil (NPRBO) was used to improve the viscosity of a frozen yogurt (FynRO).
Abstract: The objectives of this study were to develop and evaluate a frozen yogurt (FY) fortified with a nano-emulsion containing purple rice bran oil (NPRBO). NPRBO with fat droplets size range of 150–300 nm was mixed with the FY ingredients to produce a frozen yogurt containing NPRBO (FYNRO). Plain frozen yogurt (PFY), frozen yogurt with sodium caseinate (FYSC) and FYNRO had similar hardness. The apparent viscosity of the FYNRO mix was similar to the PFY mix with values of 0.19 and 0.17 Pa·s, respectively. The FYNRO micrograph showed a more compact and dense structure compared to FYSC and PFY. This study demonstrated that FY could be fortified with NPRBO.
