TL;DR: In this paper, the measurement precision of super-high reflectance is greatly improved via filtering out the random optical loss fluctuation caused by large particle intervention in the beam path inside the open-path ring-down cavity.
Abstract: The precise measurements of absolute high, especially super-high reflectances (R>99999%) of highly reflective mirrors with cavity ring-down (CRD) technique is challenging due to lack of "known" calibration samples and eligible and effective cross-validation method In this paper, measurement precision of super-high reflectance is greatly improved via filtering out the random optical loss fluctuation caused by large particle intervention in the beam path inside the open-path ring-down cavity The absolute measurement of super-high reflectance is realized through cross-checking the reflectance results measured with fixed cavity length as well as variable cavity length CRDs together with linear and nonlinear data processing approaches With an open-path CRD experimental setup, the absolute reflectance of a highly reflective mirror for laser gyroscope is determined to be 9999956% with an uncertainty of only approximately 02ppm

30 Sep 1991TL;DR: An active current control apparatus for a ring laser gyro includes an apparatus for generating a control signal representative of a current value, such as, for example, a microprocessor controller as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: An active current control apparatus for a ring laser gyro includes an apparatus for generating a control signal representative of a current value, such as, for example a microprocessor controller. Apparatus for supplying actively controlled current to the anode of the ring laser gyro in response to the control signal is coupled to the control signal so as to provide a constant current in the ring laser gyro beam path.

TL;DR: In this paper, a non-driven silicon micro-mechanical gyroscope and deduced the equation of the output voltage was used to obtain the information of the yawing or pitching and rolling angular velocity of the rotating carrier.
Abstract: The paper reports a non-driven silicon micro-mechanical gyroscope and deduces the equation of the output voltage.According to the expression of the equation, the output signal of the gyroscope contains the information of the yawing or pitching and rolling angular velocity of the rotating carrier. The experiments show how to get the useful information,i.e.the frequency of the output signal represents the average value of the rolling angular velocity, and the envelope of the output signal indicates the instantaneous value of the quantity of the yawing or pitching angular velocity, and the phase difference between the output signal and the accelerator meter shows the instantaneous value of the direction of the yawing or pitching angular velocity. Finally, the main performance of the gyroscope is obtained.

28 Aug 1987TL;DR: In this paper, an asymmetric ring laser gyroscope includes a laser gain medium for generating a clockwise beam of coherent light and a counter-clockwise beam, such that the counter-light is parallel but oppositely directed with respect to the clock-light.
Abstract: An asymmetric ring laser gyroscope includes a laser gain medium for generating a clockwise beam of coherent light and a counterclockwise beam of coherent light, such that the counterclockwise beam is parallel but oppositely directed with respect to the clockwise beam. At least three reflectors constrain the clockwise and counterclockwise beams to propagate in a closed path. A means for detecting the frequency difference between the clockwise and counterclockwise beams is provided. An acentric photorefractive plate is positioned within the closed path such that the c-axis of the plate is parallel to the clockwise and counterclockwise beams in the plate.

18 Nov 2003TL;DR: In this paper, a fiber laser configuration based on a nonlinear Sagnac interferometer with a symmetrical coupler, a quarter-wave retarder, and a highly twisted low-birefringence fiber was used for stable generation of subpicosecond pulses with milliwatts of average output power.
Abstract: We report experiments on a fiber laser configuration based on a nonlinear Sagnac interferometer with a symmetrical coupler, a quarter-wave retarder, and a highly twisted low-birefringence fiber. The modelocking operation is achieved by nonlinear polarization rotation. We achieved stable generation of subpicosecond pulses with milliwatts of average output power.
