TL;DR: In this article, a semiconductor ring laser gyro comprising two or more ring lasers, the ring lasers being optically independent of each other, is characterized in such a way that a change in beat frequency with respect to the change in angular velocity of a first ring laser is opposite to that of a second ring laser.
Abstract: A semiconductor ring laser gyro comprising two or more ring lasers, the ring lasers being optically independent of each other, is characterized in that a change in beat frequency with respect to a change in angular velocity of a first ring laser is opposite to that of a second ring laser, and angular velocity of rotation of the gyro is detected by a signal representing a difference between a first beat frequency generated by the first ring laser and a second beat frequency generated by the second ring laser.

TL;DR: In this article, an electromechanically dithered ring laser gyroscope includes a beam combiner utilizing optical fibers instead of conventional optics, which allows a beam measuring photodetector and associated electronics to be positioned outside the gyrogroscope or its enclosure.
Abstract: An electromechanically dithered ring laser gyroscope includes a beam combiner utilizing optical fibers instead of conventional optics. This permits a beam measuring photodetector and associated electronics to be positioned outside the gyroscope or its enclosure. The invention further includes a dither compensator using optical fibers thereby replacing sensitive electronic or optical dither compensating components.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a high-precision dynamic angle measuring device and method, which consists of a spacial four-frequency differential laser gyro, a flexible cable, a gyro control/demodulator circuit, a round inductosyn, an inducto-synch demodulator, an angle increment signal processing circuit, and a connection bus, and an angle measuring computer.
Abstract: The invention belongs to the technical field of high-precision angle measurement, and relates to a high-precision dynamic angle measuring device and method. The high-precision dynamic angle measuring device comprises a spacial four-frequency differential laser gyro, a flexible cable, a gyro control/demodulator circuit, a round inductosyn, an inductosyn demodulator circuit, an angle increment signal processing circuit, a connection bus, and an angle measuring computer. In the high-precision dynamic angle measuring method, the measured inertia spacial angular speed projection component on the sensitive axis of spacial four-frequency differential laser gyro is utilized to precisely obtain the inertia spacial angular speed component on the gyro sensitive axis in the current position by using an interpolation method according to the angular position output of the round inductosyn; moreover, in the gyro output, the current inertia spacial angular speed component is eliminated, and thus the angle measurement precision is largely improved. For the output of spacial four-frequency differential laser gyro, the angular speed integral time can reach the microsecond level. A spacial four-frequency differential laser gyro with a scale coefficient, which can be highly segregated, is adopted; and the provided device and method have the advantages of high angle measurement precision, large dynamic range, no counter-torque effect on measure carrier, small temperature coefficient, and good practical application value.

TL;DR: A brief survey of the history of the development of super-large laser gyroscopes (SLLGs) is presented in this article, where the basic results achieved using SLLGs in geodesy, seismology, fundamental physics and other fields are summarised.
Abstract: A brief survey of the history of the invention and development of super-large laser gyroscopes (SLLGs) is presented. The basic results achieved using SLLGs in geodesy, seismology, fundamental physics and other fields are summarised. The concept of SLLG design, specific features of construction and implementation are considered, as well as the prospects of applying the present-day optical technologies to laser gyroscope engineering. The possibilities of using fibre-optical gyroscopes in seismologic studies are analysed and the results of preliminary experimental studies are presented.

TL;DR: In this article, a glass ceramic ring having a pair of end bosses is bonded to the flexure ring with the end bosses facing outward toward the ring laser gyroscope frame, which prevents transmission of radially directed stresses from the dither flexure to the frame.
Abstract: A dither flexure for a ring laser gyroscope includes a central portion and a plurality of curved vanes extending therefrom to connect to a flexure ring. The flexure ring includes a boss in a central portion thereof. A glass ceramic ring having a pair of end bosses is bonded to the boss around the flexure ring with the end bosses facing outward toward the ring laser gyroscope frame. The end bosses contact the ring laser gyroscope frame so that a void is formed opposite the flexure ring boss, which prevents transmission of radially directed stresses from the dither flexure to the frame. The curved blades have high resistance to off-axis vibrations and have high off-axis resonant frequencies so that very little coning and axis sag occur. Each blade has a curved portion and a straight portion, which provides a convenient location for mounting piezoelectric drive elements for dithering the ring laser gyroscope.
