Abstract: The invention discloses a navigation chip for new energy automobile unmanned driving. The navigation chip comprises a pump light source, a first medium light waveguide, a second medium light waveguide, an active cascade surface plasmon resonant cavity-based gyroscope chip, an output optical fiber and a photoelectric detector; the active cascade surface plasmon resonant cavity-based gyroscope chipcomprises an active cascade surface plasmon resonant cavity, a tunable coupling output end, an X branch, a modulator and a Y branch; and a directed coupler is connected between the first medium lightwaveguide and the second medium light waveguide and is coupled with a light field composed of the active cascade surface plasmon resonant cavity-based gyroscope chip. The navigation chip for the unmanned new energy automobile, disclosed by the invention, realizes a real surface plasmon laser gyroscope chip and realizes minimization of the gyroscope; the difficulty in integration of a laser light source and the modulator in a laser gyroscope system is greatly reduced; and the integration degree and the stability of the laser gyroscope system are improved.

TL;DR: In this paper, a laser gyroscope offset frequency method based on external cavity feedback is proposed, where the external cavity is used to provide a feedback external cavity outside a laser cavity, and reflecting clockwise and anticlockwise light waves into a laser resonant cavity.
Abstract: The invention relates to a laser gyroscope offset frequency method based on external cavity feedback. The method particularly comprises the following steps of: establishing a feedback external cavity outside a laser gyroscope cavity, and reflecting clockwise beams into a laser resonant cavity; and arranging a nonreciprocal optical device in an external cavity light path, so that feedback light waves of clockwise and anticlockwise light waves have phase difference, and frequency offset is established between the clockwise and anticlockwise light waves of the laser gyroscope. A path length modulation part is arranged in the feedback external cavity light path, and the external cavity light path is modulated, so that the frequency offset of the laser gyroscope is modulated, and an effect similar to mechanical dither is obtained. A modulation signal in a laser gyroscope reading device is filtered by employing a filtering technology, so that an angular velocity signal of laser gyroscope measurement is obtained. According to the method, mechanical noise is not generated, and extremely high modulation frequency can be adopted, so that a response speed of the laser gyroscope is increased.

TL;DR: In this paper, the lock-in error compensation of MDRLG based on synchronous filtering is demonstrated, where the outputs of the Dithered Ring Laser Gyro and error accumulations are filtered synchronized to insure their alignment in the time domain.
Abstract: The mechanical dithered ring laser gyro (MDRLG) has to go across lock-in region twice every dither cycle, thus the information loss is inevitable. According to the lock-in equation, the lock-in error can be expressed by observable signals. The lock-in error compensation of MDRLG based on synchronous filtering is demonstrated in this paper. The outputs of MDRLG and error accumulations are filtered synchronized to insure their alignment in the time domain. Experimental results show that the effect of lock-in compensation is improved.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the feasibility of using RF energy to clean ring laser gyro cavities and selected a dual discharge approach as the most suitable coupling technique for cavity cleaning.
Abstract: : One of the most significant problems confronting ring laser development is short life. The key to long ring laser life is a clean cavity (free of contaminants). The objectives of the contract were to test the RF cleaning concept and to build deliverable RLG hardware including both sensors and electronics. The RF cleaning study was performed to determine the feasibility of using RF energy to clean ring laser gyro cavities. A 'dual discharge' approach was selected as the most suitable RF coupling technique for cavity cleaning. Experimental studies were conducted to select and optimize cleaning parameters and procedures. Comparative effectiveness of cleaning techniques was measured by optical spectroscopy and by life test of operational ring laser instruments. Data are presented which indicate that oxygen is the most efficient cleaning gas and that RF cleaning used in conjunction with normal thermal degassing processes can provide for improved laser gyro cleanliness. Conclusions and recommendations for future studies are also presented. Instrument and electronic design of the deliverable hardware are described. Autonetics state-of-the-art design and processing techniques are incorporated in the sensor design. Operating procedures and test results obtained with the equipment at Autonetics are given. A summary is presented of brief studies conducted on RLG reliability, maintainability, and system safety.
