TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a power supply for multiple ring laser gyros with a DC power source (30) and an interface means (50) associated with each laser for coupling the laser to the first and second terminals.
Abstract: Prior power supplies adapted to provide power to the lasers of multiple ring laser gyros were inefficient in that they were required to have power output capabilities far in excess of that required to sustain laser operations. Such inefficiency is greatly reduced by the present power supply comprising a DC power source (30) for producing a firing voltage at a first terminal (40) and a sustaining voltage at a second terminal (42), and interface means (50) associated with each laser (12, 13, 14) for coupling the laser to the first and second terminals. The firing voltage is capable of firing each laser, and the sustaining voltage is capable of sustaining current flow through each laser after firing. Each interface means comprises a resistor (52, 53, 54) connecting the laser to the first terminal and a diode (55, 56, 57) for connecting the laser to the second terminal such that the diode does not permit current flow between the first and second terminals.

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of the transport of excited atoms on the laser amplification inside the positive column of a low-pressure He?Ne dc discharge of a ring laser gyro has been studied.
Abstract: The influence of the transport of excited atoms on the laser amplification inside the positive column of a low-pressure He?Ne dc discharge of a ring laser gyro has been studied. Both non-radiative diffusion and the contribution of radiation transport have been considered. The transport induced by the radiation trapping has been determined using a Monte-Carlo simulation, taking into account an isotopic structure for the neon and the collisional line broadening in presence of helium. The transfer matrix for spatial redistribution has been calculated in a cylindrical geometry and has been included in a one-dimensional collisional-radiative model (1D-CRM). This 1D-CRM has been used to determine the laser gain within a two levels approach. Our results show that radiative and non-radiative diffusions have a significant contribution on the radial profile of the gain of the main oscillating mode, both in the unsaturated and saturated regimes. This contribution is strongly dependent on the ratio between the transverse sizes of the laser and of the plasma.

TL;DR: In this article, a ring laser gyroscope with reflective components is presented to reduce alignment shifts in at least one critical alignment of the ring-laser gyros, which includes reflective components configured to direct clockwise and counter-clockwise optical beams in one lasing plane.
Abstract: A ring laser gyroscope configured to reduce alignment shifts in at least one critical alignment of the ring laser gyroscope is provided. The ring laser gyroscope includes reflective components configured to direct clockwise optical beams and counterclockwise optical beams in at least one lasing plane; at least one ring-laser-gyro mounting feature having at least one respective through hole; and at least one minimally-threaded screw positioned in the at least one respective through hole. An unthreaded section of the minimally-threaded screw is contactlessly encased in the at least one respective through hole. A threaded-end of the at least one minimally-threaded screw is threaded in a respective at least one threaded hole in a gyro frame, the gyro frame spanning a reference mounting plane.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a measuring method for frequency intervals of lasing modes of a laser gyroscope resonant cavity. But the method is not suitable for the measurement of optical frequency parameters.
Abstract: The invention belongs to measuring methods for laser frequency parameters, and particularly relates to a measuring method for frequency intervals of lasing modes of a laser gyroscope resonant cavity. The method comprises the following processes: laser with frequencies in linear transformation outputted by a frequency sweep laser is utilized to be injected into a ring-shaped resonant cavity to be measured; the injected laser passes light path matched assemblies to enable a part of laser to transmit out from the ring-shaped resonant cavity to be measured; the transmitted laser passes a detector and an amplifier, and then is subjected to A/D conversion to be collected to a computer to obtain a time interval T corresponding to a longitudinal mode frequency interval and a time interval T1 corresponding to a frequency to be measured interval; the longitudinal mode frequency interval of the given frequency sweep laser is used a measuring scale to calculate to obtain the frequency to be obtained interval. Through the adoption of the method, an optical frequency interval which is difficult to measure is converted to a corresponding time interval to achieve the measurement for the frequency to be measured interval; the entire method is simple in operation, and easy to achieve; the measuring cost is low, and the practical application value is comparatively good.

TL;DR: In this paper, a lifetime prediction approach of the ring laser gyroscope (RLG) without the lifetime test is proposed based on the failure mechanism of RLG for saving time of the lifetime tests and its costs.
Abstract: In this paper, a lifetime prediction approach of the ring laser gyroscope (RLG) without the lifetime test is proposed based on the failure mechanism of RLG for saving time of the lifetime tests and its costs. The approach has a quite attractive idea that is to use both the gas chromatography technology and the adaptive aperiodic stochastic resonance algorithm to detect the content of weak impurity gas in the cavity of RLG so that we can predict the lifetime of RLG through established function between the content of weak impurity gas and the drop ratio of power output of RLG. To convey idea about the approach without unnecessary complications, we will take He-Ne ring laser gyroscope for example to illustrate the effective of the approach in both theoretical analysis and numerical simulation.
