TL;DR: In this paper, a low-pass filter based on the modeling of finite impulse response (FIR) filter is proposed to solve the problem of signal delay caused by the filter, and a delay compensation method is proposed based on filter group delay.
Abstract: The precision of position and orientation system directly depends on the precision of ring laser gyro.To decrease signal noise of the mechanically dithered ring laser gyro(RLG),a low-pass filter is designed based on the modeling of finite impulse response(FIR) filter. To solve the problem of signal delay caused by the filter,a delay compensation method is proposed based on the modeling of filter group delay. The results of stationary test show that the digital low-pass filter can efficiently eliminate the dither bias of RLG for 80 dB.Further more, the results of flight experiments show that the attitude error is reduced through delay compensation.Compared with the attitude of POS/AV510 as a reference, the heading error is reduced from 0.017° to 0.01°,pitching error from 0.007° to 0.005°,and roll error from 0.016° to 0.005°,meeting the requirement of airborne InSAR for the precision of position and orientation system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between structural parameters of ring laser gyro (RLG) path length control mirrors and its performance was studied. And the results were used to optimize the design.
Abstract: To study the relationship between structural parameters of ring laser gyro(RLG) path length control mirrors and its performance,a method was presented in which finite element(FE) model including elastic and piezoelectric body was established and direct coupled field analysis was conducted.By programming an ANSYS macro file, automatic synchronization between FE model and the structure size was achieved.Simulation results of a specific path length control mirrors indicate that the annular groove inner and outer diameters, and the deformable rib thickness of the mirror have the greatest impact on the light path length adjustment capability. The results are used to optimize the design.Experiments demonstrate that the method is of significance in the path length control mirror design.

TL;DR: In this paper, a multioscillator ring laser gyroscope cavity length control system comprises an adaptive servo-loop for cavity length (44), modulation depth (46), and amplitude control (42) permitting the simultaneous control of these elements.
Abstract: A multioscillator ring laser gyroscope cavity length control system comprises an adaptive servo-loop for cavity length (44), modulation depth (46) and amplitude control (42) permitting the simultaneous control of these elements. The cavity length control includes a variable RF detector gain to allow the operation of the gyroscope in a slightly detuned fashion to minimize magnetic sensitivity. In this manner, the multioscillator gyroscope may be maintained at a stable operating point suitable for modelling.
