Abstract: of EP0585954In an optical fiber gyroscope, a light source (1) sends light signals to the two ends of a fiber length (5) defining a closed path, which signals travel simultaneously along the fiber (5) in both directions and are collected by a device (6) creating an electric signal representing their beat. Signals emitted from light source (1) are frequency modulated before they are sent to the fiber (5), and the rotation speed of a body to which the gyroscope is associated is obtained by measuring the frequency of said beat signal.

Abstract: The invention relates to a laser strap-down inertial measurement combined device, and belongs to the technical field of aircraft speed and attitude measurement. The device provided by the invention adopts the integrated design of an inertial assembly and an electrical system to comprehensively arrange a laser gyro, a quartz accelerometer and a circuit board so as to minimize the volume and reducethe weight, and improves the overall heat dissipation performance to reduce and homogenize the influence of the heat source on the body combination so as to avoid the influence of the thermal characteristics on the output precision of the laser gyro and the quartz deceleration meter. In order to make full use of the space installation on the inertia assembly and since the component surface directly face the side wall of the outer casing, the heat can be dissipated by radiation and air convection/conduction; the inertial assembly is located in the center of the laser strap-down inertial measurement combination device, circuit systems located at the upper part and lower part can heat evenly, which reduces the temperature gradient in the inertial body region.

Abstract: A system for detecting radiation events in a ring laser gyro is provided. The system includes one or more photodetectors, that produce photocurrent signals to monitor the ring laser gyro. Further, the system includes one or more comparator circuits actuating at one or more thresholds. The one or more comparator circuits are responsive to the photodetectors to detect when a radiation event occurs based on the photocurrent signal. The system further includes a path length control circuit responsive to the one or more comparator circuits, that restores operating conditions for the ring laser gyro when a radiation event occurs.

Abstract: Ring laser gyroscope semiconductor structures and methods for making such structures are provided. The integrated structure includes a substrate (1200) on which a beam splitter region (1220), a waveguide (1290), a photodetector (1295), and preferably a laser (1298) are provided. An integrated circuit (1299) for processing data generated by the photodetector can also be included. By detecting the fringe pattern with an array of photosensitive elements, the data can be fit to a mathematical model of the interference pattern. The fit is then used to determine one or more rotational parameters.
