TL;DR: In this article, a low-frequency ac current source was used to reduce visible striations in a fluorescent lamp over a wide range with good light output stability in a range from about 100% to 1% of full light output.
Abstract: A dimming circuit provides power from an ac source to a compact fluorescent lamp. The circuit generally includes a resonant circuit driven by a high-frequency switching inverter and a current feedback control system. The circuit is essentially an ac current source of unusually high impedance and provides substantially symmetrical high-frequency current to the lamp. This allows flicker-free dimming of compact fluorescent lamps over a wide range with good light output stability. A small amount of dc or low-frequency ac current may be simultaneously provided to the lamp. The resulting composite current waveform flowing through the lamp substantially eliminates visible striations over a dimming range from about 100% to 1% of full light output.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for tuning and matching extremely small sample coils with very low inductance for use in magnetic resonance experiments conducted at low frequencies is described, and a circuit has been disclosed that is appropriate for performing measurements in fields where magnetic resonance is beneficially utilized.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for tuning and matching extremely small sample coils with very low inductance for use in magnetic resonance experiments conducted at low frequencies. A circuit is disclosed that is appropriate for performing measurements in fields where magnetic resonance is beneficially utilized. The circuit has a microcoil, an adjustable tuning capacitance, and added inductance in the form of a tuning inductor. The microcoil is an electrical coil having an inductance of about 25 nanohenries (nH) or less. Because additional inductance is purposefully added, the capacitance required for resonance and apparatus function is proportionally and helpfully reduced. The apparatus and method permit the resonant circuit and the magnet to be made extremely small, which is crucial for new applications in portable magnetic resonance imaging, for example.

TL;DR: It is shown that the results of rigorous calculations of Maxwell equations can be fully retrieved with simple model describing the system in terms of equivalent resonant circuit, allowing the total absorption effect observed in the system on a common physical ground to be explained.
Abstract: The resonant absorption in a planar metamaterial is studied theoretically. We present a simple physical model describing this phenomenon in terms of equivalent resonant circuit. We discuss the role of radiative and dissipative damping of resonant mode supported by a metamaterial in the formation of absorption spectra. We show that the results of rigorous calculations of Maxwell equations can be fully retrieved with simple model describing the system in terms of equivalent resonant circuit. This simple model allows us to explain the total absorption effect observed in the system on a common physical ground by referring it to the impedance matching condition at the resonance.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method and apparatus for efficiently coupling a transceiver to an AC power line transmission system, which comprises a line coupling network and first and second filter ports.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for efficiently coupling a transceiver to an AC power line transmission system. The preferred embodiment of the coupling system comprises a line coupling network and first and second filter ports. The first filter port is connected to a resonant circuit having bandpass filtering characteristics adapted to the specific needs of the transmitter portion of the transceiver. The second filter port is isolated from the low impedance of the AC power line and is connected to a high quality factor filter having bandpass filtering characteristics adapted to the specific needs of the receiver portion of the transceiver.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dual-channel low-side resonant gate drive circuit is proposed to provide two symmetrical drive signals for driving two MOSFETs in push-pull converters.
Abstract: At high-frequency applications, the gate drive loss of the power metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) becomes quite significant. A new dual-channel low side resonant gate drive circuit is proposed in this paper. The proposed drive circuit can provide two symmetrical drive signals for driving two MOSFETs. It charges and discharges the MOSFET gate capacitor with a constant current source. Both gate drive loss and, more importantly, switching loss can be reduced significantly. The proposed resonant gate drive circuit can be used to drive the synchronous MOSFETs in a current doubler or full-wave rectifier configuration. It can also be used to drive the primary MOSFETs in push-pull converters. Analysis, computer simulation, and experimental results show that significant power loss reduction is achieved by the proposed circuit.
