TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the results from thrust measurements of an ethylene/gas-oxygen rotating deformation for a rocket combustor with a geometrical throat.
Abstract: Geometric throats are commonly applied to rocket combustors to increase pressure and specific impulse. This paper presents the results from thrust measurements of an ethylene/gas-oxygen rotating de...

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the research progress of mostly used elastomers, and a circumstantial understanding about the features of ablation and insulation has been validated, especially in the elastomeric heat shielding materials with various reinforcing agents.
Abstract: Catastrophic breakdown that occurs during the flight of supersonic vehicles demands more focused research in the insulation of rocket engines. At present, optimization of polymeric ablatives as viable insulation for solid rocket motor casing has a prominent role in the successful mission of rockets. Among polymers, elastomer serves an imperative part. Comprehensive investigations were disclosed, especially in the elastomeric heat shielding materials with various reinforcing agents. In this paper, research progress of mostly used elastomers is reviewed, and a circumstantial understanding about the features of ablation and insulation has been validated.

TL;DR: An overview of a Pulse Detonation Rocket Engines (PDREs) is presented in this article, which describes the important components required for a PDRE, presents some fundamental thermodynamic, design and operational issues associated with the engine, and discusses several past ASI test articles utilized to provide validation of the PDRE concept.
Abstract: An overview of a Pulse Detonation Rocket Engines (PDREs) is presented. PDREs have the potential to significantly reduce the cost and complexity of today's liquid propellant rocket engines. Practical engineering issues and subsystem technologies are being addressed by ASI to ensure that this potential is realized. This paper describes the important components required for a PDRE, presents some fundamental thermodynamic, design, and operational issues associated with the engine, and discusses several past ASI test articles utilized to provide validation of the PDRE concept.

TL;DR: In this article, the characteristics of this region in hot full-scale applications are addressed by means of numerical simulations, and scaling laws are sought for cold subscale side-load experiments.
Abstract: Dual-bell nozzles permit two different operating modes, which provide higher performance than conventional bell nozzles when applied to rocket engines operating from sea level During the low-altitude mode, the flow is separated and the separation line is located near the inflection of the nozzle wall, in a region characterized by a negative value of the wall pressure gradient, as in conventional nozzles, and in which side loads may occur The characteristics of this region in hot full-scale applications are addressed by means of numerical simulations, and scaling laws are sought for cold subscale side-load experiments Moreover, the flow behavior during the transition between the two operating modes is analyzed by time-accurate simulations
