TL;DR: In this article, undoped polycrystalline GaAs layers were deposited on Mo layers by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition and annealed by pulse laser irradiation and the Schottky characteristics were observed between the top GaAs layer and the Mo layer underneath; the barrier height was 0.53 eV.
Abstract: Undoped‐polycrystalline GaAs layers were deposited on Mo layers by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition and annealed by pulse laser irradiation. The laser used here was a Q‐switched ruby laser and the annealing was done by immersing the samples in SnCl2‐dissolved methanol. Then, recrystallization and doping of the GaAs layers were successfully done. The Schottky characteristics were observed between the top GaAs layer and the Mo layer underneath; the barrier height was 0.53 eV.

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel technique for the injection of small (diameter ≤ 30 μm) impurity pellets into fusion plasmas is proposed and investigated, which may be easily applied by using a special target plate in conventional laser blow-off injection devices.
Abstract: A novel technique for the injection of small (diameter ≤30 μm) impurity pellets into fusion plasmas is proposed and investigated. The method may be easily applied by using a special target plate in conventional laser blow‐off injection devices. In the present experiments 10×30×30 μm size aluminum pellets (≊5×1014 atoms) are accelerated to average velocities up to 1 km/s by a 700 mJ ruby laser pulse. The scaling law obtained from a rocket model to the pellet velocity versus laser fluence fits well to experimental data and enables one to extrapolate the capabilities of the technique.

TL;DR: In this paper, the breakdown region was observed by recording infinite fringe, interferometric, diffuse holograms with a singlemode ruby laser of 100 ns FWHM pulse length.
Abstract: Air breakdown at pressures of 300 and 753 torr was produced by a 28J, 40 ns FWHM neodymium glass laser focused with a 100 mm focal length lens. The breakdown region was observed by recording infinite fringe, interferometric, diffuse holograms with a single-mode ruby laser of 100 ns FWHM pulse length. The two lasers were synchronized to examine the time region from R-t diagram was found to be in excellent agreement with the weak spherical blast wave theory of Sakurai. The radial density profile of the shock wave was determined by an Abel inversion of the fringe pattern. Both the R-t function and the density profile were calculated using a one-dimensional, hydrodynamic model and good agreement was obtained.

TL;DR: The feasibility of a window cleaning system based on the laser blowoff technique is investigated to remove the impurity deposition on vacuum windows of the modified reversed field experiment fusion device.
Abstract: The feasibility of a window cleaning system based on the laser blowoff technique is investigated to remove the impurity deposition on vacuum windows of the modified reversed field experiment fusion device. The laser pulse is sent to the window through a fused silica fiber optic (φ=1mm), then focused on its internal surface, single shot ablating up to ∼5mm2 of the impurity layer; the focused pulse is scanned across the window to clean its entire surface. The composition of the deposited layer is studied through the secondary ion mass spectrometry and profilometry techniques. Effectiveness of cleaning is analyzed in terms of quality of the cleaned spot, its dimension, repetition rate of the laser, and its wavelength. The energy damage threshold of the fiber optic is also investigated. Three different lasers (microjoule Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF, and ruby) are first tested directly on the window; then only the ruby laser beam is propagated through an optical fiber and tested.
