TL;DR: In this article, an exclusive OR operation between a noticed picture element and its adjacent picture element on the pre-stage of entropy encoding was proposed to effciently execute entropy encoding and to improve the encoding compression rate of natural picture data.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To effciently execute entropy encoding and to improve the encoding compression rate of natural picture data by executing exclusive OR processing between a noticed picture element and its adjacent picture element on the prestage of entropy encoding. CONSTITUTION:Picture data PA from a picture input part 1 are applied to a bit plane developing part 2 and decomposed to a bit plane, which is stored in a picture memory 3. An exclusive OR operation part 4 forms exclusive OR between the picture data of each picture element position in the picture data of each bit plane stored in the memory 3 and that of an adjacent picture element adjacent to the preceding position of the picture element position concerned in a main scanning direction while using the contents of a work memory 5. The processed result is applied to a run length encoding processing part 6 as picture data PB. The processing part 6 applies prescribed run length encoding processing to the data PB to execute compression encoding and outputs encoded data CDa. Since entropy is reduced prior to encoding, the efficiency of encoding can be improved.

TL;DR: A new method of stegoanalysis revealing the text produced by the synonym runlength encoding steganography with higher accuracy of steganalysis with smaller size of input data is presented.
Abstract: In this article we present a new method of stegoanalysis revealing the text produced by the synonym runlength encoding steganography. During this research, it was shown that RLE embedding method changes statistical structure of extracted message and this fact could be used for stegoanalysis. In the constructed method we compare the probability distribution of runs (with length no more than 5 bits) in the message extracted from the analyzed container with reference distributions corresponding to empty and filled containers. The Kullback-Leibler measure is used as a divergence measure of two probability distributions. It was shown that the proposed method makes it possible to detect a secret message in the container having 500 synonyms, while the false negative error is 1.5% and the false positive error is 1.3%. In comparison with known analogs, the proposed method has higher accuracy of steganalysis with smaller size of input data.

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of selecting a compression method suitable for an image class by easily discriminating image having different features like a natural image and an artificial image was solved, where the natural images and the artificial images were discriminated on the basis of the distribution of run lengths in the image data.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a compression method suitable for an image class by easily discriminating image having different features like a natural image and an artificial image. SOLUTION: In a first image compressing means 4, image data are compressed by run length encoding suited to the artificial image and in a second image compressing means 5, the image data are compressed by JPEG suited to the natural image. In an image class discriminating means 3, the natural image and the artificial image are discriminated on the basis of the distribution of run lengths in the image data and in a selection means 6, the data compressed by a compression method suited to an image class are selected on the basis of the discriminated result. TL;DR: This paper decomposes the captured fingerprint image by applying the lifting wavelet transform, and uses an efficient second adaptive run-length encoding in the high-frequency part of the Huffman stream to improve the encoding efficiency.
Abstract: FBI’s WSQ (Wavelet Scalar Quantization) algorithm is well and widely used as the specific standard in the field of fingerprint image compressions currently. In this paper, based on the WSQ, first we decompose the captured fingerprint image by applying the lifting wavelet transform, and then use an efficient second adaptive run-length encoding in the high-frequency part of the Huffman stream to improve the encoding efficiency. Our experiment results show that the performance of proposed method is better than WSQ at the same bit rate.

TL;DR: A lossless compression method based on adaptive interval run length encoding is proposed, which automatically identifies the frame format of telemetry data, and carries out longitudinal run length adaptive interval encoding for inter frame differential data to improve the compression efficiency.
Abstract: Aiming at the problem of massive historical telemetry data storage in flight test, a lossless compression method based on adaptive interval run length encoding is proposed. Aiming at the problem of low compression efficiency of traditional run length encoding algorithm for word data, by studying the storage characteristics of telemetry data, this algorithm automatically identifies the frame format of telemetry data, and carries out longitudinal run length adaptive interval encoding for inter frame differential data to improve the compression efficiency. The test results show that the compression ratio of the improved algorithm is improved by 58.1% and 1.5% compared with the traditional run length encoding algorithm and the inter frame differential lateral run length encoding algorithm.
