TL;DR: In this paper, a panel structure for supporting relatively heavily loaded, removable and adjustable shelving embodying first and second substantially planar skins and a core structure between the skins, one or both skins having a plurality of perforations arranged in a column for receiving studs or hooks of the shelf structure.
Abstract: Panel structures for supporting relatively heavily loaded, removable and adjustable shelving embodying first and second substantially planar skins and a core structure between the skins, one or both skins having a plurality of perforations arranged in a plurality of vertical columns for receiving studs or hooks of the shelf structure, the core structure including a plurality of vertical, elongated strips or slabs fixedly joined substantially continuously to respective rear faces of the skins with the edges thereof disposed between respective columns of perforations, and free spaces in the core behind the perforations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effective thermal conductivity and heat transfer characteristics for a series of body-centered cubic lattice sandwich panels were explored by theoretical analysis and numerical modeling, and it was revealed that through the rational design of the geometry, the relative density is modulated to be within 5%, suggesting the excellent lightweight character is obtainable.

TL;DR: A structural panel material of the sandwich-type construction includes inner and outer facings and a core bonded between the facings as discussed by the authors, which has the highly desirable characteristics of being flexible enough to conform to a mold shape under gravity and with the application of little or no external pressure so that special jigs are not required.
Abstract: A structural panel material of the sandwich-type construction includes inner and outer facings and a core bonded between the facings. The core includes a plurality of blocks of lightweight core material, such as rigid or semi-rigid plastic foam, balsa wood, or a combination of plastic foam. These blocks are arranged in strips. The strips are joined together by corrugated sheet material. In a preferred embodiment, double-sided corrugated paperboard is used to join the lightweight structural strips. The resulting core material has the highly desirable characteristics of being flexible enough to conform to a mold shape under gravity and with the application of little or no external pressure so that special jigs are not required.
