TL;DR: In this article, a numerical model based on the discrete vortex method is proposed to predict the performance and wake of a Savonius wind turbine for both stationary and rotating configurations, and a detailed parametric study provides fundamental information concerning the starting and dynamic torque time histories, power coefficient, evolution of the wake, Strouhal number, etc.
