TL;DR: A nonperturbative analytical theory of the conductance of a one-dimensional wire interrupted by a double-barrier structure valid in a broad region of temperatures and for a variety of the barrier parameters is built.
Abstract: We consider the conductance of a one-dimensional wire interrupted by a double-barrier structure allowing for a resonant level. Using the electron-electron interaction strength as a small parameter, we are able to build a nonperturbative analytical theory of the conductance valid in a broad region of temperatures and for a variety of the barrier parameters. We find that the conductance may have a nonmonotonic crossover dependence on temperature, specific for a resonant tunneling in an interacting electron system.

TL;DR: Interlayer tunneling in some double-layered quantum Hall states that contain a neutral gapless superfluid mode is studied, in contrast to tunneling between superconductors, the critical current here is linear rather than quadratic in the tunneling amplitude.
Abstract: We study interlayer tunneling in some double-layered quantum Hall states that contain a neutral gapless superfluid mode. A tunneling current less than a certain critical value will not cause any voltage drop between the two layers. A finite voltage V between the layers will induce an ac current with a frequency \ensuremath{\omega}=eV/\ensuremath{\Elzxh}. In contrast to tunneling between superconductors, the critical current here is linear rather than quadratic in the tunneling amplitude.

TL;DR: In this article, the capacitance of a nanojunction formed by a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) tip and a two-dimensional gold cluster was measured through the single electron tunneling spectroscopy of a double-barrier tunnel junction.
Abstract: The capacitance of a nanojunction formed by a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) tip and a two-dimensional gold cluster was measured through the single electron tunneling spectroscopy of a double-barrier tunnel junction. By decreasing the STM tip-cluster separation, it was observed that the capacitance first increases and then decreases at short separation. This characteristic clearly deviates from the classical behavior and provides evidence for potential quantum effects on the capacitance.

TL;DR: In this article, the temperature dependent thermoelectric power (TEP) of boron- and nitrogen-doped multiwalled carbon nanotube mats has been measured showing that such dopants can be used to modify the majority conduction from p-type to n-type.
Abstract: The temperature dependent thermoelectric power (TEP) of boron- and nitrogen-doped multiwalled carbon nanotube mats has been measured showing that such dopants can be used to modify the majority conduction from p-type to n-type. The TEP of boron-doped nanotubes is positive, indicating hole-like carriers. In contrast, the nitrogen doped material exhibits negative TEP over the same temperature range, suggesting electron-like conduction. Therefore, the TEP distinct nonlinearities are primarily due to the formation of donor and acceptor states in the B- and N-doped materials. The sharply varying density of states used in our model can be directly correlated to the scanning tunneling spectroscopy studies of these materials.
