Abstract: The invention discloses a paving thickness measurement system, a paving machine and a paving thickness measurement method. The paving thickness measurement system includes a thickness measuring sensor, a thickness measuring controller and a thickness measuring output apparatus. The thickness measuring sensor is used for detecting the height or height deviation relative to a leveling standard of a back edge of a screed plate. The thickness measuring controller calculates the paving thickness according to an initial value of the paving thickness and the height or height deviation detected by the thickness measuring sensor and then sends the paving thickness to the thickness measuring output apparatus. The thickness measuring output apparatus is used for outputting or displaying the paving thickness. The height deviation refers to the height of the back edge of the screed plate relative to the leveling standard minus the preset height of the thickness measuring sensor. By means of measurement of the height or height deviation relative to the leveling standard of the back edge of the screed plate through the thickness measuring sensor with combination of the initial value of the paving thickness, the paving thickness can be calculated. The paving thickness measurement system and the method are more simple and reliable and are in conformity with engineering practice.

Abstract: A screeding system for use with a screeding machine during screeding of an uncured concrete surface includes a control and a plurality of sensors. The sensors are disposed at the screeding machine, which has a screed head assembly that is movable over uncured concrete to screed the concrete surface. The sensors include elevation sensors that sense an elevation of the screed head assembly relative to a reference plane established at the concrete area. The control processes data captured by said plurality of sensors while the screeding machine is screeding the uncured concrete surface. Responsive to the data processing of captured data, the control estimates a flatness or levelness or quality of the surface of the concrete being screeded. While the screeding machine is screeding the uncured concrete surface, the control generates an output indicative of the estimated flatness or levelness or quality of the surface.

Abstract: Infrared thermography technologies are rapidly developing for thermal measurement and control of hot mix asphalt (HMA) pavement and airfield construction. Two technologies currently used and/or specified include hand-held thermal imaging cameras for discrete measurement and paver-mounted temperature sensors for continuous measurement. A field evaluation of these new technologies was conducted on three asphalt paving projects by collecting thermal readings in the truck box, paver hopper, and behind the paver screed. Analysis of the field data concluded these technologies are capable of detecting HMA temperature variability during construction that can lead to process adjustments and other quality control actions. The HMA temperature ranged from 100°F to 160°F in the truck box, while material behind the screed ranged from 8°F to 53°F. The HMA temperature standard deviation behind the paver was reduced from 9.4°F to 5.5°F when a material transfer vehicle (MTV) was included in the paving operation. When a pass/fail criteria is set at a range of 25°F in a transverse section behind the screed, locations having a material transfer vehicle (MTV) are able to pass this requirement in 10 of 11 tests, while not having an MTV failed this requirement in 4 of 4 tests.

According to the leveling system and the leveling method disclosed by the invention, a height deviation signal of the first sensor is received by virtue of the speed difference controller, and the motion of left and right leveling displacement regulators is controlled by virtue of a mode of limiting the speed difference between the left and right large-arm hinge joints. According to the leveling system and the leveling method, the problem that the screed plate is twisted because the actions of leveling displacement regulators (generally leveling cylinders) on two sides of a main engine are not coordinated is fundamentally solved by limiting the speed difference between the left and right large-arm hinge joints, so that the pavement paving quality is improved, and various construction conditions are met.

The basic physical properties, mechanical properties and frost resistance were determined. The water /cement coefficient was decided to be taken according to the consistence of the mortar. The mixtures were designed with respect to their application as screed. The properties of developed low-cost pozzolanic screed exceeds the reference material.

Abstract: The invention discloses a screed and a paving machine with the screed. The screed comprises a grillage, a base plate and a vibrating blade. The grillage and the base plate are encircled to form a box body. The vibrating blade is arranged in front of the box body. A heating body is paved on the base plate. The heating body is made of a metal material. The heating body is intertwined with multiple heater coils which are supplied with alternating current. By electromagnetic heating at the base plate of the screed, heat utilization rate is high and the whole screed can be heated rapidly and uniformly. In addition, the heating mode is environmentally friendly, will not cause pollution gases and is safe and reliable. Besides, as heat insulation sleeves sleeve the heater coils of the screed, the heater coils can be protected effectively, and service life of the heater coils can be prolonged.
