TL;DR: An improved, portable, lightweight vibrator which is an integral unit and is easily and quickly removably secured to a screed board to vibrate it is described in this paper.
Abstract: An improved, portable, lightweight vibrator which is an integral unit and is easily and quickly removably secured to a screed board to vibrate it. Only a source of electrical power is required to operate it. Virtually any 2×4, 2×6 or larger boards of wood or metal such as aluminum or magnesium up to 20 feet in length can be used as the screed board. When properly installed on the screed board, the vibrator will walk or pull the screed board toward the rough pour, to save time and labor in leveling concrete.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an applicator for applying joint compound or mud to wallboard with a head, a mud outlet and a mud hose, and a control valve for controlling the flow of mud.
Abstract: An applicator for applying joint compound or mud to wallboard has six embodiments with a head, a mud outlet and a mud hose. The applicator has a handle and a control valve for controlling the flow of mud. Each embodiment also has a screed on the head above the mud outlet which extends beyond the end of the head. The screed smoothes down the mud applied to the wall and wipes away any excess mud. The first embodiment has a fan-shaped head with baffles to define multiple flow ports. The second and third embodiments have a rectangular head and a pair of retractable corner stops which align the mud outlets flush with the corners of drywall sections. The third embodiment adds a dispersion mechanism for varying the width of the outlet. The fourth embodiment of the applicator has a wedge-shaped head and a V-shaped screed with flow ports in the sidewalls that are designed to apply mud to right-angled corners. The control valve of the final embodiment has a cylindrical core with a slot which selectively aligns with a slot in the mud chamber. The control valve is operated by a spring-biased lever which contacts the wall. The lever has a pair of arms and a wheel on each arm. The arms extend from an outer edge of the control valve past the mud outlet to automatically open flow when the head is pressed against the wall.

TL;DR: In this paper, a paver or other apparatus used to convey paving material is provided with a conduit including a hood and a duct for directing fumes from the paving material to a fume processor.
Abstract: A paver or other apparatus used to convey paving material is provided with a conduit including a hood and a duct for directing fumes from the paving material to a fume processor. A paver having an extendable screed or other moving parts is equipped with a roll of screen material. The screen material is unrolled and fastened over the extended screed to contain and direct the fumes to the conduit. The fumes are burned in an engine of the paver or otherwise processed to remove or reduce noxious components thereof.

TL;DR: In this article, a trussed beam with a cross-section in the geometrical shape of an equilateral triangle is used to support tools for working plastic concrete, and the beam is supported between spaced apart, wheeled carriages riding forms bounding the plastic concrete.
Abstract: A screed with a trussed beam having a cross-section in the geometrical shape of an equilateral triangle used to support tools for working plastic concrete. The beam is supported between spaced apart, wheeled carriages riding forms bounding the plastic concrete. The beam is oriented such that the cross-sectional triangle is inverted with the wide base at the screed top and the apex at the bottom. The inverted triangular truss beam has sufficient space to suspend working tools substantially within the peripheral edges of the beam. The screed uses upstanding integral outriggers so that the pitch at the center of the screed can be adjusted exteriorly to the pour site.
