TL;DR: In this paper, a modular screed assembly attachment for an asphalt paving machine having a main screed unit, including a support assembly that is detachably connectable to the main unit, a movable carriage slidably mounted on the support assembly, and a platform assembly movably connected to the movable carabiner.
Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, a modular screed assembly attachment for an asphalt paving machine having a main screed unit, includes a support assembly that is detachably connectable to the main screed unit, a movable carriage slidably mounted on the support assembly, and a platform assembly movably connected to the movable carriage. The modular screed assembly attachment also includes means for moving the carriage between a position adjacent the main screed unit and a position spaced from the main screed unit, and means for selectively positioning the platform assembly elevationally with respect to the carriage.

TL;DR: In this paper, a self-propelling vibratory screed is formed by removably clamping two parallel boards 18 to the spaced angle irons of a rectangular frame 10 vibrated by angularly-adjustable eccentric weights 58, 60 on a motor-driven shaft 52, self-propulsion being effected by a winch 82 carrying a cable 84 whose ends are passed around pulleys 90, 92 and anchored to ground stakes.
Abstract: 1,150,836. Screeding concrete. J. E. GRIFFIN. 26 June, 1967 [14 Nov., 1966], No. 29277/67. Heading E1G. A self-propelling vibratory screed is formed by removably clamping two parallel boards 18 to the spaced angle irons of a rectangular frame 10 vibrated by angularly-adjustable eccentric weights 58, 60 on a motor-driven shaft 52, self-propulsion being effected by a winch 82 carrying a cable 84 whose ends are passed around pulleys 90, 92 and anchored to ground stakes. The winch is driven from the shaft 52 through a clutch and gearbox 78. The screed boards are cross-braced and provided at one end with kerb-shaping plates 98 associated with a concrete hopper 100. In a modification two vibratory frame units are arranged in tandem on a single pair of screed boards.

TL;DR: A screeding machine comprising at least one of (a) a boom speed cruise control for automatically controlling the travel speed of the screed head assembly, (b) an auto-stabilizer control that automatically adjusts the stabilizer actuators to a preselected degree of extension, and (c) a control for adjusting the lowering of the head assembly toward and to the concrete surface as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A screeding machine comprising at least one of (a) a boom speed cruise control for automatically controlling the travel speed of the screed head assembly, (b) an auto-stabilizer control that automatically adjusts the stabilizer actuators of the screeding machine to a preselected degree of extension, (c) a control for automatically controlling the lowering of the screed head assembly toward and to the concrete surface and automatically activating the auger and vibrator at a beginning of each screeding pass and automatically deactivating the auger and vibrator in response to the screed head assembly being raised away from the concrete surface at the end of a screed pass, and (d) an auto-screed mode that allows the operator to select maximum values for at least one of a boom extension speed, a boom retraction speed, a boom rotation speed and a screed head rotation speed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a strike off bar is modified with base indentations which partially and wholly, according to desired specifications, grade or top dress hot asphaltic mat with desired, force-transmitting shaped planes.
Abstract: Obtainment of specific asphalt paving densities during roadbed repair by preshaping hot mat top surfaces concurrent with or/and prior to compaction. Like a shaped munition, a preshaped top surface on recently laid hot asphalt mat transmits surface compacting forces in precalculated directions and carries therewith asphaltic materials so as to obtain desired finished paving densities. A conventional strike off bar is modified with base indentations which partially and wholly, according to desired specifications, grade or top dress hot asphaltic mat with desired, force-transmitting shaped planes. Adjunct apparatus is employed by way of translating and rotating plates to partially or wholly cover the indentations so as to effect various, but differing, desired shapes; such adjunct apparatus includes a unique, edge and rut compaction shoe. An improvement to the conventional vibrating screed is also employed to effect the initial asphaltic mat shape while simultaneously tamping the shape gradually into its desired and compacted final form. This conforming screed is used with the modified strike off apparatus and a roller compactor or may be used in lieu of either. Likewise, it may employ the compaction shoe device for pre-compacting edge, seam or rut portions of a roadway.
