TL;DR: A multipurpose asphalt processor and method for repairing damaged asphalt was proposed in this article, where the asphalt processor may be used to both till and screed asphalt surfaces, and it may take the form of an attachment for use with existing machinery such as a tractor.
Abstract: A multipurpose asphalt processor and method for repairing damaged asphalt. The asphalt processor may be used to both till and screed asphalt surfaces. The asphalt processor may include a powered shaft having a plurality of tines extending therefrom. The outermost tines on the shaft may be angled to thereby form a beveled surface along the edges of tilled area of asphalt. The asphalt processor may further include a screed for leveling tilled asphalt. The asphalt processor may take the form of an attachment for use with existing machinery, such as a tractor.

TL;DR: In this paper, a screed bar support saddle is carried by vertically adjustable legs mounted on the ends of support arms swingable in a horizontal plane so as to adjustably position the legs relative to the screed bars.
Abstract: A screed bar support saddle is carried by vertically adjustable legs mounted on the ends of support arms swingable in a horizontal plane so as to vary the spacing between the legs, between the legs and the screed bar, and to adjustably position the legs relative to the screed bar. The adjustable positioning and spacing of the legs enables the screed bar support assembly to be placed to avoid interference with reinforcing steel or wire, pipes, and the like, and to accommodate concrete pouring upon corrugated surfaces having different spacing ofcorrugating grooves. The screed bar is held against torsional and pivotal motion within a support saddle and precisely adjusted in elevation by rotation of an adjustment tool formed on the end of a sight rod that is used with a transit, level, or the like, for precision elevation control.

TL;DR: A windrow-type paving machine movable along a windrow of paving material includes a loading conveyor operable to transfer the upper portion of the paving material within the windrow into a hopper.
Abstract: A windrow-type paving machine movable along a windrow of paving material includes a loading conveyor operable to transfer the upper portion of the paving material within the windrow into a hopper. The remainder of the paving material remains on the roadway and passes through a tunnel formed in the paving machine to a lateral auger and screed which cooperate to spread and level the paving material. The machine provides a hopper which receives the upper portion of the paving material for subsequent delivery by a conveyor to the lateral auger and screed when insufficient paving material passes through the tunnel to produce the required paving. Agitator means are provided in the tunnel to break up lumps of paving material and the like before they reach the auger.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system for measuring the height of paving material distributed by an auger of a paving machine in front of a grading implement, such as a screed, is disclosed.
Abstract: A system for measuring the height of paving material distributed by an auger of a paving machine in front of a grading implement, such as a screed, is disclosed. The system includes a sonic sensor and a laser pointer. The sonic sensor generates a sonic signal which is directed at the paving material distributed by the auger. The laser pointer generates a laser beam which is similarly directed at the paving material that has been distributed by the auger. The laser beam and the sonic signal meet at a common position on the paving material.

TL;DR: A strike-off device is a paving screed having a main screed and a screed extension attached to it as mentioned in this paper, where the plate has a generally horizontal working edge extending laterally along the front vertical surface of the screed.
Abstract: A strike-off device is for a paving screed having a main screed and a screed extension attached to the main screed, the screed extension having a generally vertical front surface. The strike-off device includes a plate disposed frontwardly of and adjacent to the screed extension. The plate has a generally horizontal working edge extending laterally along the front vertical surface of the screed extension. Two connective members extend between the strike-off plate and the screed extension and are configured to adjustably attach the plate to the screed extension, such that vertical displacement of the connective members adjusts a vertical position of the strike-off working edge. Preferably, the connective members are each a threaded rod having a first end engaged with the strike-off plate and a second end engaged with the screed extension, such that rotation of the rods displace the strike-off plate in vertical directions.
