TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for on-board treatment of an exhaust stream containing CO2 emitted by a hydrocarbon-fueled internal combustion engine (ICE) used to power a vehicle in order to reduce the amount of CO2 discharged into the atmosphere is described.
Abstract: A method and system are described for on-board treatment of an exhaust stream containing CO2 emitted by a hydrocarbon-fueled internal combustion engine (ICE) used to power a vehicle in order to reduce the amount of CO2 discharged into the atmosphere which include: a. a first waste heat recovery zone on board the vehicle for receiving the high temperature exhaust gas stream, at least one heat exchanger having an inlet for receiving the hot exhaust gas stream from the ICE for passage in heat exchange relation and a discharge outlet for discharging the exhaust stream at a lower temperature, the heat recovery zone further including at least one heat recovery device for converting the waste heat from the exhaust gas to electrical and/or mechanical energy; b. a membrane separation zone in fluid communication with the exhaust gas stream discharge outlet from the waste heat recovery zone, the membrane separation zone including a membrane module having a permeate side to which CO2 permeates and a retentate side that is contacted by the cooled exhaust gas stream, the retentate side including a treated exhaust gas stream outlet; c. a densification zone in fluid communication with the permeate side of the membrane molecule for receiving permeate CO2, the densification zone including means for reducing the temperature and volume of the CO2 to at least liquefy the CO2, and to produce a treated exhaust gas stream of reduced CO2 content; d. a storage zone for receiving the densified CO2 for temporary storage on board the vehicle; and e. an exhaust gas conduit in fluid communication with the treated exhaust gas stream outlet from the membrane module zone.

TL;DR: In this paper, a valve is connected in fluid communication with a mixer to deliver at least a portion of the remainder of exhaust gases to the mixer for mixing with compressed air in the mixer.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine comprises a first exhaust manifold, a second exhaust manifold, a first turbocharger having a first turbine and a first compressor, and a second turbocharger having a second turbine and a second compressor. A second gas inlet port of the second turbine is connected in fluid communication with a second exhaust manifold to receive at least a portion of second combustion gases. A second gas outlet port of the second turbine and the first exhaust manifold are in fluid communication with a first gas inlet port of the first turbine. A valve is connected in fluid communication with the second exhaust manifold to receive a remainder of exhaust gases not included in the at least a portion of the second combustion gases supplied to the second turbine. The valve is connected in fluid communication with a mixer to deliver at least a portion of the remainder of exhaust gases to the mixer for mixing with compressed air in the mixer.

TL;DR: An inside-out heating method was proposed in this paper to provide efficient and economical heating of wet cement during the curing phase in building structures, where hollow building blocks and their cement joints were heated by applying forced hot air injected at the base of the wall.
Abstract: An inside-out heating method provides efficient and economical heating of wet cement during the curing phase in building structures. Hollow building blocks and their cement joints may be heated by applying forced hot air injected at the base of the wall. The hot air rises up through the wall and out of the open end of the top course of block by the chimney effect of the hot air rising through the ducting created by the aligned vertical passageways in the hollow blocks. The hot air is distributed through the wall by a manifold and injection tubes which provide air ducting from a heat source, such as a forced air propane heater. Temporary holes are broken through a low level course of block to receive the hot air injection tubes. After the cement has fully dried, the injection tubes are removed and the temporary holes are filled in with cement.

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of the first set of experiments revealed that pilot injection timing and pressure both affect the combustion development, while a secondary effect was determined by the gaseous mass inducted in the cylinder.
