TL;DR: In this article, an exhaust control system for a vehicle comprises an exhaust system modeling module and an actuator control module, which is used to adjust an engine operating parameter based on at least one of the input gas temperature, the output gas temperature and the mass temperature.
Abstract: An exhaust control system for a vehicle comprises an exhaust system modeling module and an actuator control module. The exhaust system modeling module estimates an input gas temperature, an output gas temperature, a mass temperature, and a pressure for an exhaust system component of an exhaust system implemented in the vehicle. Exhaust gas flows through the exhaust system component. The actuator control module selectively adjusts an engine operating parameter based on at least one of the input gas temperature, the output gas temperature, the mass temperature, and the pressure.

TL;DR: In this paper, a fuel injection apparatus with pilot injection and main injection in Diesel engines is proposed, where a high-pressure injection pump delivers a main injection quantity to the main injection nozzle, while a hydraulic pilot injection auxiliary pump driven by the supply pressure of the high pressure injection pump positively displaces a pilot injection quantity, via a piston, and delivers it to a pilot injector.
Abstract: A fuel injection apparatus with pilot injection and main injection in Diesel engines is proposed. A high-pressure injection pump delivers a main injection quantity to a main injection nozzle, while a hydraulic pilot injection auxiliary pump driven by the supply pressure of the high-pressure injection pump positively displaces a pilot injection quantity, via a piston, and delivers it to a pilot injection nozzle which is either separate or combined with the main injection nozzle. In the main injection area, a storage piston is separately provided, which without being mechanically connected to the pilot injection piston and without a pressure division is initially acted upon solely by the supply pressure of the high-pressure injection pump and only in the course of the pilot injection piston stroke is a line leading on to the storage piston opened up, at least indirectly, for the pumped fuel.

TL;DR: In this paper, an exhaust gas emission control device comprising a filter provided in the exhaust passage, a heater provided near the filter, first and second passage bypassing the filter and the heater, a single first valve upstream of the filter a single second valve downstream of the controller controlling the first and the second valve.
Abstract: An exhaust gas emission control device comprising a filter provided in the exhaust passage, a heater provided near the filter, first and second passage bypassing the filter and the heater, a single first valve upstream of the filter a single second valve downstream of the filter, and a controller controlling the first and the second valve. When trapping particles, one of or both of the first and second valves closes the first and second passages, and the first and second valves open the exhaust passage, whereby exhaust gas flows through the filter and the heater. On the other hand, when regenerating the filter, the heater is switched ON, the first valve shuts the exhaust passage and the second valve is open to a predetermined degree, so that exhaust gas flows into the first passage, and a part of the exhaust gas flowing via the first passage flows through the heater, the filter, and the second passage.

TL;DR: In this article, a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine is provided with first and second exhaust systems respectively for the first and the second groups of cylinders and an exhaust gas recirculation passage is provided between the second exhaust system and an air intake passage.
Abstract: A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine is provided with first and second exhaust systems respectively for first and second groups of cylinders. An exhaust gas recirculation passage is provided between the second exhaust system and an air intake passage. The cylinders in the first group is selectively disabled in response to the magnitude of engine load when reduced engine output power can operate the vehicle adequately.

TL;DR: In this paper, a fuel injection control device for a direct fuel injection engine is configured to selectively control a fuel injector valve, which is configured and arranged to directly inject a first fuel stream per cycle into a combustion chamber, to use a first injection timing when the controller determines that a stratified air-fuel mixture will be difficult to form during a second fuel injection timing.
Abstract: A fuel injection control device for a direct fuel injection engine is configured to selectively control a fuel injection valve, which is configured and arranged to directly inject a first fuel stream per cycle into a combustion chamber, to use a first fuel injection timing when the controller determines that a stratified air-fuel mixture will be difficult to form during a second fuel injection timing based on a determination of an engine operation parameter by at least one sensor. The first fuel injection timing is set to control the injection valve to inject the first fuel stream during an intake stroke while a piston in the combustion chamber is approximately at an intake top dead center position such that a majority of the first fuel stream injected from the fuel injection valve is received inside a cavity formed on the piston.
