09 Nov 2006TL;DR: In this article, a fire fighting system for extinguishing a fire is provided, which has a fuel cell for producing a nitrogen-enriched cathode exhaust air, and the fuel cell is supplied with air and a fuel.
Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a fire fighting system for extinguishing a fire is provided, which has a fuel cell for producing a nitrogen-enriched cathode exhaust air. The fuel cell is supplied with air and a fuel. Within the fuel cell, the air is then reduced to a determined oxygen content. The exhaust air is supplied to the fire source.

16 Jan 2013TL;DR: In this paper, a post-catalyst exhaust throttle and an EGR valve are closed during cold start to accelerate the EGR heating of an engine and accelerate its catalytic converter.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling and coordinating control of a post-catalyst exhaust throttle and an EGR valve to expedite catalyst heating. By closing both valves during an engine cold start, an elevated exhaust backpressure and increased heat rejection at an EGR cooler can be synergistically used to warm each of an engine and an exhaust catalyst. The valves may also be controlled to vary an amount of exhaust flowing through an exhaust venturi so as to meet engine vacuum needs while providing a desired amount of engine EGR.

10 Mar 2005TL;DR: In this article, a system for determining a target exhaust temperature for a gas turbine was proposed, based on a compressor pressure condition, and a temperature adjustment was applied to adjust the exhaust temperature.
Abstract: A system for determining a target exhaust temperature for a gas turbine including: determining a target exhaust temperature based on a compressor pressure condition; determining a temperature adjustment to the target exhaust temperature based on at least one parameter of a group of parameters consisting of specific humidity, compressor inlet pressure loss and turbine exhaust back pressure; and adjusting the target exhaust temperature by applying the temperature adjustment.

18 Sep 2002TL;DR: In this paper, a control apparatus for a direct injection engine having an intake valve, an exhaust valve and a fuel injection valve for injecting fuel directly into a cylinder of the engine, has combustion stabilizing device for stabilizing combustion in the cylinder.
Abstract: A control apparatus for a direct injection engine having an intake valve, an exhaust valve and a fuel injection valve for injecting fuel directly into a cylinder of the engine and in which fuel injection by the fuel injection valve is performed during intake stroke or during compression stroke of the engine, has combustion stabilizing device for stabilizing combustion in the cylinder. The combustion stabilizing device has next operation mode determination device for selecting either an operation mode of recovering the combustion stability by fuel injection during intake stroke or an operation mode of recovering the combustion stability by fuel injection during compression stroke when a deteriorated state of combustion is detected in fuel injection during compression stroke.

TL;DR: Injection at the predicted optimum injection ratio for a volumetric average NAPL saturation, reduced accumulation of the contaminant ahead of the condensation front by over 90%, as compared to steam injection alone, indicating that the optimum injection ratios prediction is a valuable tool for limiting the spreading of DNAPL during steam-enhanced extraction.
