TL;DR: In this article, a method for regenerating a particulate filter communicating with exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine 12 is provided, which includes indicating that the filter 48 needs to be regenerated and adjusting the throttle valve 18 to decrease an amount of air inducted into one of the engine cylinders.
Abstract: A method for regenerating a particulate filter communicating with exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine 12 is provided. The method includes indicating that the particulate filter 48 needs to be regenerated. The method further includes adjusting the throttle valve 18 to decrease an amount of air inducted into one of the engine cylinders to increase a temperature of the exhaust gases while maintaining an engine speed above a predetermined engine speed. The method further includes increasing the speed of the engine 12 and injecting a predetermined amount of fuel into one of said cylinders late in a power stroke of the cylinder to further increase the temperature of the exhaust gases to regenerate the filter 48.

TL;DR: In this article, an internal combustion engine with variable displacement modes is provided with separate exhaust systems for individual cylinder groups and a set of exhaust gas sensor and catalytic converter for each exhaust system.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine operable in variable displacement modes is provided with separate exhaust systems for individual cylinder groups and a set of exhaust gas sensor and catalytic converter for each exhaust system. An electronic fuel injection control unit is arranged to respond to one of the signals from the gas sensor which is indicative of mixture richer than the other to effect correction of the duration of fuel injection pulse. Each catalytic converter is provided with a temperature sensor to detect when the temperature therein falls below the normal catalytic reaction temperture. A variable displacement control unit responds to the output from the temperature sensors by alternately deactivating the cylinder groups during low power operation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a gas turbine system is used to stoichiometrically combust a compressed oxidant and fuel in the presence of a compressed recycle exhaust gas and expand the discharge in an expander to generate a gaseous exhaust stream and drive a main compressor.
Abstract: Methods and systems for low emission power generation in hydrocarbon recovery processes are provided. One system includes a gas turbine system configured to stoichiometrically combust a compressed oxidant and a fuel in the presence of a compressed recycle exhaust gas and expand the discharge in an expander to generate a gaseous exhaust stream and drive a main compressor. A boost compressor can receive and increase the pressure of the gaseous exhaust stream and inject it into an evaporative cooling tower configured to use an exhaust nitrogen gas having a low relative humidity as an evaporative cooling media. The cooled gaseous exhaust stream is then compressed and recirculated through the system as a diluent to moderate the temperature of the stoichiometric combustion.

TL;DR: The use of air in backwash of hollow-fiber modules was investigated experimentally from bench to full scale in this article, where air was injected into the retentate compartment either in combination with a reversed permeate flux or together with feed water after a brief permeate back flow.

TL;DR: In this article, an air-fuel ratio control system for internal combustion engines is presented, in which the direction of deviation of the actual air fuel ratio from a preset airfuel ratio is determined by an oxygen concentration detector for detecting the concentration of oxygen contained in the exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine.
Abstract: There is provided an air-fuel ratio control system for internal combustion engines wherein the direction of deviation of the actual air-fuel ratio from a preset air-fuel ratio is determined by an oxygen concentration detector for detecting the concentration of oxygen contained in the exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine and an air-fuel ratio discriminating circuit, whereby air is injected from an air injection valve when the air-fuel ratio is low i.e. the mixture is rich and fuel is injected from a fuel injection valve when the air-fuel ratio is high i.e. the mixture is lean, thereby controlling the air-fuel ratio to a predetermined value.
