TL;DR: In this paper, a fresh air ventilator system for a building or the like has a conditioned air plenum and a return air aperture communicating interiorly of the building, respectively, for circulation of conditioned air within the building.
Abstract: A fresh air ventilator system for a building or the like having a conditioned air plenum and a return air aperture communicating interiorly of the building, respectively, for circulation of conditioned air within the building, characterized by a ventilator unit disposed in a weather-proof cabinet on a sealing roof curb on the roof of the building. The ventilator unit includes a fresh air inlet adapted to admit fresh air and exclude precipitation and having a fresh air damper for controlling the quantity of fresh air from zero to the maximum; an air circulating blower suitably connected to effect circulation of air through the building; an exhaust means for at least periodically exhausting a portion of the return air; a proportioning damper disposed at the return air aperture for proportioning the amount of return air, from zero to the maximum, fed to the circulating blower; and air conditioning means for conditioning the air to be circulated. Also disclosed are specific preferred structural embodiments, controls, modes and operations; for example, the fresh air inlets, the return air exhaust means, the disposition of the condenser passageway and fan with respect to the fresh air inlet, and the splitter arrangement of the proportioning damper between circulated air and exhaust.

TL;DR: In this article, a double-walled valve casing with a funnel-shaped mounting was used for secondary treatment of the exhaust system, which brought the injection valve outlet close to the passage into the exhaust.
Abstract: The dosing unit has an injection valve (14). This has a double-walled valve casing (17) connected to an air compressor (19) for cooling. It blows into the gap (144) between outer- (173) and inner- (172) walls of the casing, cooling at least that section close to the exhaust pipe. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding method of secondary treatment for exhaust gases. Preferred Features: Mounting design in the double-walled casing brings the injection valve outlet close to the passage into the exhaust system. The mounting is funnel-shaped so that the tip of the injector valve (143) is surrounded by an air gap (144). The outer wall of the valve mounting casing is fixed to the wall (41) of the exhaust pipe. The valve axis is normal to the exhaust pipe wall, or is at an acute angle. The mounting is metallic, ceramic or temperature-resistant plastic. The air compressor is an electrically-controlled pump (19), or is driven mechanically from the engine. An air reservoir (20) and non-return valve (21) is included in the air line.

TL;DR: In this paper, an air-pollution preventive arrangement for use with an internal combustion engine for motor vehicles, adapted to reduce the concentrations of noxious compounds such as unburned hydrocarbons and carbonmonoxides contained in the engine exhaust gases.
Abstract: An air-pollution preventive arrangement for use with an internal combustion engine for motor vehicles, adapted to reduce the concentrations of noxious compounds such as unburned hydrocarbons and carbonmonoxides contained in the engine exhaust gases. The arrangement comprises a thermal reactor for primarily re-combusting the exhaust gases and a catalytic converter for secondarily recombusting the exhaust gases passed from the thermal reactor so as to oxidize the residual unburned compounds. An air injection unit supplies additional air which is admixed, in a limited proportion, to the exhaust gases entering the thermal reactor to aid in the primary re-combustion of the exhaust gases therein. The noxious unconsumed hydrocarbons and carbon-monoxides are thus converted into innocuous compounds at efficiencies which are far higher than those attained where the thermal reactor or the catalytic converter is employed independently. Such additional air may also be admixed to the exhaust gases entering the catalytic converter which is located downstream of the thermal reactor, whereby the re-combustion efficiencies of the reactor and converter are maintained at high levels throughout varying driving conditions of the motor vehicle. The arrangement may also comprise a second catalytic converter which is adapted to reduce nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gases.

TL;DR: In this article, a bypass fluid line and a bypass valve in the nature of a check valve are provided to bypass the venturi assembly, to limit the pressure drop across the exhaust manifold.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine is provided with a combustion air supply, an intake manifold, an exhaust manifold, and an exhaust gas recirculation system having a venturi assembly. The venturi assembly includes an outlet, a combustion air inlet connected and in communication with the combustion air supply, and an exhaust gas inlet connected and in communication with the exhaust manifold. A bypass fluid line and a bypass valve in the nature of a check valve are provided to bypass the venturi assembly. The check valve is responsive to changes in pressure drop across the venturi assembly, to open and close the bypass fluid line and limit the pressure drop across the venturi assembly.
