Abstract: A method and system for progressively reducing the power consumption of a serial memory device is provided, called the power control system. The power control system monitors the ports of a multi-port serial memory so that they can be enabled or disabled on a per-port basis. When data is not being transmitted or received on a port, a series of steps are taken to progressively de-power portions of the port and cause the port to enter into a low-power state. By disabling certain ports and placing ports in a low-power state, the power consumption of the overall serial port memory is significantly reduced.

Abstract: With the rapid development of the embedded computer technology, the new generation of industrial automation data acquisition and monitoring system, which takes the high performance of embedded microprocessor as its core, adapts well to the application system. It meets the strict requests of the function, reliability, cost, size and power consumption, etc. In the industrial automation application system, the Modbus communication protocol is widespread industrial standard and is used in massive industrial equipments, including DCS, PLC, RTU and the intelligent instrument, etc. In order to reach the demand of the embedded data acquisition monitoring system of the industrial automation application, an embedded data acquisition monitoring platform based on Modbus protocol under the Linux environment is designed in this paper. The serial port Modbus master protocol is realized, which includes two kinds of communication mode: ASCII and RTU. As a result, communicating with various serial Modbus salve protocol equipments can be satisfied. The Modbus master realized by this embedded platform is stable and reliable. It has excellent prospect in the embedded data acquisition monitoring system of new automation applications.

Abstract: A method and system for accessing a remote real communication port (“COM port”) from a server blade in a server blade chassis by creating a virtual COM port in the server blade. A basic input/output system (BIOS) controller monitors an internal COM port in the server blade for communication traffic. Upon detecting the communication traffic, the BIOS controller reroutes the traffic to a virtual USB COM port created by the BIOS controller chipset. The virtual USB COM port directs the communication traffic to an internal universal serial bus (USB) device in the server blade. The USB device then forwards the traffic to an Ethernet media access controller (MAC) input/output (I/O) on a sideband channel to a remote system, which passes the communication traffic to a real COM port in the remote system.

The invention further discloses a heliostat tracking control method, the method adopts the open-loop and the closed-loop combined control, the open-loop roughly calculates and adjusts the position of a heliostat and the closed-loop corrects and eliminates the accumulated error till the precise tracking. The heliostat tracking control device has the advantages that the heliostat tracking control device can not have the accumulated error or the failure of the tracking system due to the rainy and cloudy weather. The system adopts the combined control algorithm within the control period, thus achieving the precise tracking of the heliostat. The tracking reaction speed, the power consumption and the cost are low, thus forming a modular structure.

Abstract: The invention relates to a SDINS/GPS integrated navigation system time synchronization method and synchronous data acquisition method. 1 PPS pulse of a GPS receiver is used as a reference to generate an IMU sampling clock, and the pulse signal outputted from the IMU is counted by a counter in the FPGA, so that IMP data sampling is synchronous with 1 PPS, and the synchronization of IMU data and GPS data is realized. GPS data is received through a serial port for realizing VHDL language. The floating point DSP responds the external interruption of the FPGA, reads the IMU data inside the FPGA, and acquires synchronous IMU data and reads GPS data in accordance with the IMU synchronization marks and GPS reading marks. The invention adopts hardware synchronization and time synchronization, leading to good stability. It can realize re-synchronization with 1 PPS, so as to provide high-precision synchronous data for integrated navigation computation and improve the overall performance of integrated navigation system. The DSP acquires synchronous data with interrupt mode and hardly occupies the DSP resource for computation, leading to good real-time performance.

Abstract: A boot menu is provided for manual setting of serial port parameters. A serial console mode menu allows an operator to set serial port parameter values. After the user selects the serial port parameters, when the controller continues with the boot process, the serial port is initialized with the newly selected parameters. A mechanism is also provided for manual setting of serial port parameters through an administrative management window at the host. In addition, an adaptive baud rate negotiation mechanism using the Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART) registers in the serial port is provided. The adaptive baud rate negotiation is based on the return characters received from a break character from the serial console. The mechanism uses a look-up table for the baud rate versus the bit pattern that is received. The mechanism then sets the baud rate based on the look-up table values.

Serial communication is a popular means of transmitting data between a computer and a peripheral device such as a programmable instrument or even another computer. Serial communication uses a transmitter to send data, one bit at a time, over a single communication line to a receiver. You can use this method when data transfer rates are low or you must transfer data over long distances. Serial communication is popular because most computers have one or more serial ports, so no extra hardware is needed other than a cable to connect your instrument to the computer (or two computers together).

The instrument controller includes a central processing module, a CAN information receiving and transmitting module, a serial communication module, a stepping motor drive module, a power voltage adjusting module and an external keystroke inputting module. The CAN information receiving and transmitting module receives the CAN information from a CAN bus interface and is connected to the central processing module, namely the CAN port of an SCM; the serial communication module is connected with the serial port of the SCM and the data receiving serial port of a colorful liquid crystal display terminal; the input end of the stepping motor drive module is connected with the I/O port of the SCM; the output end of the stepping motor drive module is connected with a 16-bus connector; the power voltage adjusting module converts an inputted 12V vehicle DC power into a 5V power to supply power for the power-consuming chips like the SCM, etc. The external keystroke inputting module is connected with one I/O port of the SCM for controlling the output of high-low levels. Abstract: Bluetooth is a key technology for wireless short-range communications. A model to characterise the delay of Bluetooth communications is proposed, which employs the serial port profile, which is nowadays massively implemented by commercial Bluetooth-capable devices. In particular, the model defines the inferior limit of the end-to-end data delay, taking into consideration the overhead and segmentation introduced by the protocols involved in the transmission. The performed experiments show that the model accurately fits the delay obtained through the measurements of actual Bluetooth connections.

Abstract: The invention relates to a water environment monitoring node based on ZigBee wireless technique. The prior technology has long monitoring period and large work intensity, and cannot reflect dynamic variation of water environment. The invention includes an electric power management module, a water quality parameter acquisition module, an MPU module and a ZigBee radio frequency module. The equipment adopts an MSP430F149 MPU, for analyzing and processing water environmental parameter, and controls the operating status of the ZigBee radio frequency module and the water quality parameter acquisition module. The MSP430F149 processor is interconnected to the water quality parameter acquisition module through a 12 bit A /D converter self integrated with the MSP430F149 processor, and is interconnected to the ZigBee radio frequency module through an SPI serial interface, meanwhile also controls a power supply management module to supply power through an analogue switch, so as to achieve the goal of energy-saving. However, unlike conventional DACs, DACs with non- volatile memory may need special interface communication protocols for effective operation of the DAC and communications between a system master controller unit (MCU). Interface communications protocols that do not violate standard serial bus communications protocols are provided for communicating between the volatile and non- volatile memories of the DAC so that the MCU may access the DACs memories (non-volatile and/or volatile memories). The mixed signal integrated circuit device has a user programmable address.

Abstract: The invention discloses a device and a method for downloading firmware of an embedded Linux system. According to the principle of downloading from the simple to the complex, the most fundamental and simplest part is downloaded through a serial port, then the more complex part is downloaded, and finally, a user application program is downloaded. By adopting the device and the method provided by the invention, the firmware downloading for the embedded Linux system can be completed by a PC, thus a Flash memory is programmed through serial port and a high-speed serial interface, and the disposition of the whole system is completed. Compared with prior art, the invention has the advantages of high downloading speed, simple operation, low cost, and suitability for both R&D stage and mass production stage.

Abstract: This paper proposes the concept of a universal controller hardware system for power electronics applications. With the presence of generic interfaces and communication schemes, this system can be used in various other control scenarios. A prototype hardware system incorporating a high performance floating point digital signal processor (DSP) and a powerful field programmable gate array (FPGA) has been built to demonstrate the concept of real-time hardware simulation. Prior to being deployed for control of a complete power electronics system, an intermediate step that would yield more information pertaining to system timing is the hardware simulation enabled by such a board. Extracting maximum throughput from this system with a few innovative schemes has been another goal of this project. In order to achieve this objective, the embedded peripherals of the Texas Instruments C6000 series DSP have been programmed to facilitate a higher degree of parallelism. The core of this paper deals with the different sub-systems that comprise the real-time controller (RTC) board, and their interaction with one another. One of the novel schemes proposed in this paper involves the on-board communication between the DSP and several analog-to-digital converter (ADC) chips using the multi-channel audio serial port (McASP) peripheral. The efficacy of this concept is made possible by a robust software architecture, enabled by the enhanced direct memory access (EDMA) peripheral. In addition to the DSP peripheral activity, significant processing capability is offered by the Cyclone II series FPGA. The option of universal connectivity is provided over either Ethernet or USB. The FPGA also provides a platform for developing a complete system with an embedded 32-bit processor. The RTC board prototype can be used for power electronics applications with the addition of certain interface boards, which can be readily developed.

Abstract: Novel subway stray current automatic monitoring system comprises that a plurality of stray current online automatic monitoring devices which are utilized as local monitoring slave machines are connected with a remote monitoring main machine. A switch power module, a data collecting module, an Ethernet communication module, an auxiliary hardware module and a man-machine interactive module are arranged on the same PCB printing circuit board around the processor of the system. The switch power module is internally-equipped with an EMC filter with high-performance. A/D transformation circuit employs bipolar and 12 bit A/D transducer MAX197 which is internally equipped with 8 ways sample-taking passages. The auxiliary hardware module comprises an EEPROM secondary permanent storage module, a hardware watchdog circuit, a self-contained battery calendar clock module and a serial port communication interface circuit. The invention simplifies the structure of the system, enables data sharing, information fusion and synergic observation among slave machines, which greatly strengthens the accuracy and tightness of the monitoring of the stray current, additionally, the cost of the monitoring device is reduced.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method for arousing a mobile terminal processor serial port and flow control, comprising following steps: a first processor sets a pin at the output state, changes the electric level hight of the connecting wire between the first processor and the second processor; the second processor receives the electric level change of the connecting wire, generates an intermit, changes the electric level triggering type; the first processor sets the pin at the input state, the connecting wire is returned to the primary electric level to form a pulse; the second processor generates an intermit, closes the intermit for controlling the pin, exits the dormancy state, looks up the receiving buffer has whether or not space and the serial port whether or not can be used; if the receiving buffer has spce and the serial port can be used, the pin is set at the output state, the electric level of the connecting wire is changed; the first processor responses the electric level changes, closes the intermit for controlling the pin, sends data through the data line connected with the processor, uses two controlling wires in the serial port communication, realzies serial port bidirectional arouse, bidirectional arouse affirmation, bidirectional flow control and dead halt monitoring.
