Abstract: The invention provides a household security system which comprises a home gateway, sensors and a zigbee wireless transceiver, wherein the zigbee wireless transceiver is used for providing information interchange between the sensors and the home gateway; the home gateway comprises a central processor and further comprises a camera interface for connecting a camera, a UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) serial port interface, an Ethernet interface, an SPI (Single Program Initiation) interface, an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) interface and an I/O (Input/Output) interface which are arranged on the central processor; the central processor comprises a master chip s3c6410 based on an ARM11 framework and a peripheral circuit; the camera interface is a USB (Universal Serial Bus) interface capable of connecting a USB camera; the UART serial port interface is connected to a MC35iGSM module; the I/O interface is connected to a voice alarm; and the sensors comprise a fire detector, an antitheft detector and a gas detector. A complex wiring process for mounting the household security system is omitted, thereby realizing multi-point and remote transmission of security information, promoting safety and reliability as well as hidden performance of the household security system, and lowering the cost.

Abstract: The invention relates to a GSM network-based access control system, which comprises: an AVR single-chip microcomputer and a GSM embedded module. Specifically, the AVR single-chip microcomputer is a core control chip of the system, and the GSM embedded module is responsible for the GSM communication of the whole system. The AVR single-chip microcomputer is in connection with the GSM embedded module through a serial port, by which control command transmission and data receiving between the AVR single-chip microcomputer and the GSM embedded module can be conducted. The GSM embedded module collects information about a fixed-line telephone incoming call, a mobile phone incoming call or a short message of a user. By combining the wireless GSM network communication technology and voice/image processing technology, the access control system puts forward a wireless access control system based on a GSM, solves the existing access control system line problem, and substitutes the content of an original indoor unit and line. And only a mobile phone or fixed-line telephone is needed in each household, and this can be satisfied in each common family. Therefore, the installation cost is substantially reduced already. The invention also relates to an access control method.

Abstract: This paper presents a microdevice for monitoring, control and management of electric loads at home. The key idea is to compact the electronic design as much as possible in order to install it inside a Schuko socket. Moreover, the electronic Schuko socket (electronic microdevice + Schuko socket) has the feature of communicating with a central unit and with other microdevices over the existing powerlines. Using the existing power lines, the proposed device can be installed in new buildings or in old ones. The main use of this device is to monitor, control and manage electric loads to save energy and prevent accidents produced by different kind of devices (e.g., iron) used in domestic tasks. The developed smart device is based on a single phase multifunction energy meter manufactured by Analog Devices (ADE7753) to measure the consumption of electrical energy and then to transmit it using a serial interface. To provide current measurement information to the ADE7753, an ultra flat SMD open loop integrated circuit current transducer based on the Hall effect principle manufactured by Lem (FHS-40P/SP600) has been used. Moreover, each smart device has a PL-3120 smart transceiver manufactured by LonWorks to execute the user's program, to communicate with the ADE7753 via serial interface and to transmit information to the central unit via powerline communication. Experimental results show the exactitude of the measurements made using the developed smart device.

In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a differential serial interface that supports a plurality of differential serial interface standards and a rail-to-rail common mode range, the differential serial interface comprising a silicon integration of a transceiver comprising (i) a transmitter module coupled to a differential interface and (ii) a receiver module coupled to the differential interface via a common mode isolation circuit, wherein the transceiver is direction-selectable; a variable termination resistance circuit, coupled to the differential interface, for providing adjustable termination for the transmitter module and the receiver module; a frequency-based load detector for detecting connection to a remote receiver; and a calibration circuit for calibrating termination impedance, voltage swing, at least one of pre-emphasis levels or de-emphasis levels, at least one of transmitter eye or receiver eye, and return loss of the differential serial interface to support the plurality of differential serial interface standards.

The method comprises the following steps that: 1, a bluetooth control terminal is installed on a PC and abluetooth application client is installed on a mobile phone; 2, automated testing software of the PC terminal is opened; 3, pairing is carried out on a to-be-tested mobile phone and the PC terminal; 4, after the pairing is carried out successfully, the PC terminal and the mobile phone terminal send instructions to each other so as to confirm that communication is normal; 5, the automated testing software of the PC terminal sends a test case to the mobile phone terminal to start the testing; 6, the mobile phone terminal responds to the instruction to execute a corresponded functional motion so as to generate a testing record and return the testing record to the PC terminal; and 7, the PC terminal carries out analysis and processing on the testing record and a test result is obtained, and the test result is written into a database. According to the invention, wired connection of a USB and a serial port and the like is changed into wireless connection, so that complicated circuit connection is reduced and testing becomes concise. If a USB is used to connect a mobile phone, the mobile phone will be in a charging state and it is not good for current testing; however, utilization of bluetooh communication enables an interference from the above-mentioned situation to be avoided. And the method can be applied widely and can be used for mobile phones with blutooth functions.

Abstract: The proposed paper describes the universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter i.e. UART which is the kind of serial communication protocol which allows the full duplex communication in serial link. This paper presents the hardware implementation of a high speed and efficient UART using FPGA. The UART consists of three main components namely transmitter, receiver and baud rate generator which is nothing but the frequency divider. This has been simulated on ModelSim SE 10.0a and has been implemented by using Verilog description language which has been synthesized on FPGA kits such as Virtex4 and Spartan3.

The high-fidelity digital speech encoding-decoding circuit ensures the duplex high-fidelity speech communication between an in-vehicle measuring and controlling platform and an out-vehicle measuring and controlling staff without increasing radio communications to interfere a measuring and controlling data chain of the unmanned plane; besides, the digital speech outputs are digital signals directly to provide conveniences for sending codes of the measuring and controlling platform, and the measuring and controlling information sent by the measuring and controlling platform uses high hop-speed spread spectrum measuring and controlling data chain to ensure the high anti-interference and anti-interception performance of signals so as to improve the reliability, the economical efficiency and the maneuverability of the unmanned plane.

Abstract: This paper presents a novel digital miniaturization method for a prototype silicon micro-gyroscope (SMG) with the symmetrical and decoupled structure. The schematic blocks of the overall system consist of high precision analog front-end interface, high-speed 18-bit analog to digital convertor, a high-performance core Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) chip and other peripherals such as high-speed serial ports for transmitting data. In drive mode, the closed-loop drive circuit are implemented by automatic gain control (AGC) loop and software phase-locked loop (SPLL) based on the Coordinated Rotation Digital Computer (CORDIC) algorithm. Meanwhile, the sense demodulation module based on varying step least mean square demodulation (LMSD) are addressed in detail. All kinds of algorithms are simulated by Simulink and DSPbuilder tools, which is in good agreement with the theoretical design. The experimental results have fully demonstrated the stability and flexibility of the system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to apply compressed test patterns using a very pin-limited test apparatus to a chip design for use in semiconductor manufacturing test is disclosed. Compression circuitry is inserted into the circuit design and the compressed signals manipulated for communication over a serial interface. On a test apparatus, ATPG may be run, assuming a parallel test interface, resulting in test patterns that may be compressed into a parallel format and then converted into a serial signal. On chip, the serial signal is parallelized, decompressed, and then shifted into the scan chains. An inserted controller generates clocks and various control signals. Conventional test patterns from ATPG may be generated and applied during testing without the need to modify the ATPG program saving time and resources. Hierarchical testing of integrated circuits built with a multiplicity of cores, each having its own embedded compression logic, is also supported.

As for a system, a passive electronic tag with the vehicle information (license plate, owner, subordinated operating company, and the like) is installed on the monitored vehicle; tag equipment is installed at the restricted area and comprises an electronic tag reader and a receiving antenna; and when the vehicle with the tag passes through the area, the reader can read the tag information through the antenna and transmit the information in two ways, one way is that the vehicle information is locally outputted through a serial port, and the other way is that the vehicle state is uploaded to a remote monitoring system through the cloud computing network in the 3G network. Therefore, the remote management person can read the information of the vehicle passing through the area without going to the building site.

The microcontroller takes charge of controlling and coordinating the work of the all modules; the memory is used for memorizing network data and user configuration information; the Ethernet module is connected with an internet and used for receiving transmitted signals; the Bluetooth module is used for receiving the control information transmitted by the Bluetooth of the mobile phone and is in communication with the microcontroller by a serial interface; and the three-path LED driver is used for receiving PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) dimming signals so as to regulate the brightness of a three-color LED. According to the LED indoor lighting dimming control system, the mobile phone is taken as a terminal and can control an indoor LED lamp. When a user is in a room, the mobile phone is in communication with the system through the Bluetooth function so as to regulate the brightness of various paths of indoor LED lamps and further achieve the purpose of making the eyes of people comfortable. In the device, a frequency output pin of a rubidium clock X72 is connected with an input pin of an AND gate; an output pin of the AND gate is connected with an input pin of a complex programmable logic device (CPLD); an output end of a top dead center-general purpose 2 (TDC-GP2) chip of a time interval measuring instrument is connected with a digital signal processor (DSP) through a single program initiation (SPI) port; the DSP is connected with the rubidium clock through an RS232 serial port; an output end of a 1pps signal output by a BD/GPS dual-mode receiver is connected with the TDC-GP2 chip of the time interval measuring instrument; and an RS 232 port of the BD/GPS dual-mode receiver is connected with the DSP. The device has a simple structure and high stability and can adapt to a switchover time service mode; and the cost of the device is reduced, a system structure is simplified and the stability of the device is enhanced without accuracy loss.

Abstract: A multi-card system includes a card having a plurality of serial port devices, an inter-card serial bus connection configured for connection to an inter-card serial bus, and an intra-card and inter-card serial port access system. The serial port access system may include a switch configured to provide switchable serial connections between any of the devices on the card, and an inter-card signaling system to communicate switching instructions to other cards. A serial connection can be enabled between a particular device on the card and a target device on another card by controlling the switch to connect the particular device with the inter-card serial bus connection, and sending an instruction to the other card via the inter-card signaling system to enable a connection between the target device and the inter-card serial bus, such that a serial connection is provided between the particular device and the target device via the inter-card serial bus.

A direct-current power supply module is used for supplying power; a sensor module is connected with a central processing module, and is used for receiving and acquiring data acquired by using an environmental factor sensor; the acquired data are transmitted to a standard data output port RS232/485 after being processed by using the central processing module; the standard data output port RS232/485 is communicated with a transmission module; the acquired data are directly transmitted to a converging node at a Zigbee frequency; the converging node is communicated with a gateway node through a serial port; the gateway node is used for transmitting data to a monitoring center through a GPRS (General Packet Radio Service); background managing software of the monitoring center is used for analyzing and processing the data.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for serial interfaces are provided. In one embodiment, an integrated circuit operable to communicate over a serial interface is provided. The integrated circuit includes analog circuitry, registers for controlling the operation of the analog circuitry, and a distributed slave device including a primary block and a secondary block. The registers are accessible over the serial interface using a shared register address space. Additionally, the primary block is electrically connected to the serial interface and to a first portion of the registers and the secondary block is electrically connected to the primary block and to a second portion of the registers.

Abstract: Differential inductive displacement sensors are widely used in hydraulic applications because they offer good accuracy, large displacement range (up to 200mm) and have a rugged construction. Displacement information is usually extracted with analog electronics techniques - sinusoidal excitation of coils, quadrate modulation and synchronous demodulation – but this method is not well suited for implementation in digital embedded systems. Using a novel method for displacement measurement, based on switching voltages applied to the coils of the inductive device, the displacement sensor can be implemented with a standard microcontroller with integrated analog to digital converter and timer. Commissioning, configuring and data communication can be performed using standard serial interface. To avoid wires and cables, an infrared communication based on a standard IrDA transceiver module can be implemented. Presented paper focuses on measurement and construction aspects of an inductive displacement sensor with infrared communication interface option implemented and tested by authors.
